Many thanks to Josh Horrowitz and MTV Splash Page for the following:

"I'm pretty aware [of the 'Green Lantern 2' story]," Reynolds told MTV News in a recent interview.

"Really? They don't tell me anything," added Lively. "This is awkward."

When quizzed on whether or not he knows Carrol Ferris becomes Star Sapphire in the sequel, Reynolds quickly replied: "I'm not throwing that out there at all!"

"There's such a rich history with this character, so you get really excited about the possibility [for a sequel]," he continued. "The inevitable war between Hal and Sinestro is something that will have to be dealt with in the second movie for sure, but there's always subplots and a lot of other interesting things going on that are setting up a possible third film, so..."

"Like the war between Star Sapphire and..." interjected Lively.

"Oh, I was talking about Pokemon and Pikachu, but yes, that one as well," joked Reynolds.

With an all star cast which includes Ryan Reynolds as Hal Jordan, Blake Lively as Carol Ferris and Mark Strong as Sinestro, director Martin Campbell's Green Lantern is set to be released in 3D on June 17, later this month!

Guess what...there's not going to be a GL2! Flop waiting to happen.

@Kolossus shut your lying mouth, it's gonna be a lot better than that. It won't hit TDK/Superman/Spiderman like box office, but it'll be better than First Class.
And I can't wait to see Sinestro vs. Hal!

John Stewart will have a prominent role in part 2. Hopefully Guy Gardner too, in his traditional sleeveless peacoat instead of that cgi toe-job they use in this film. Guy was supposed to be the original GL anyways... It won't be intil the 4th movie btw.

I mean these other chacters will be used prominently before the 4th film, btw.

i think the Green Lantern Trilogy will be amazing.
Think about it:
1st movie - Parallax and Hector Hammond
2nd movie - i want Sinestro early on then Sinestro Corps vs Green Lantern Corps to finish the movie and introducing William Hand
3rd movie - i want it to be the blackest night arc but with some changes where its only GL characters

@ superguy

I've always wondered that too - and why they didn't just head over to krypton and grab a decent kryptonian like Jor-EL to be the GL of Earth's sector. Or any for that matter.

@rh0ki - That's exactly what I was thinking the trilogy could turn out to be. But, knowing Campbell he might not return for the sequels. But we never know.

Haven't seen this movie yet, but the title of your article is spoiler sensative. I was unaware that Hal lived. Or Sinestro for that matter. Just kidding, Josh!

If they put Blake Lively in that outfit they used for Star Saphire for the Justice League series, I'd say that would satisfy a lot of you.

Then again, if God declared that all of the comic and sci-fi creations were suddenly REAL, and let loose every known character loose on the planet for you to watch, there would still be massive bitching from the peanut gallery.

GOD: Wonderwoman! Take the XMEN girls, all the chicks from Battlestar Galactica, and the multiple clones of Megan Fox and go felate all of the guys who have registered on comicbookmovie.com

FANBOYS: Awwww, that sux...she's not even hot....hurrrrrr hurrrrr derpity derp

@Kolossus My neighbor is mentally retarded. One day I explained to him that if he were to just, not talk so damn much, he would seem a lot less retarded. It worked. Now the only thing working against him is his walking helmet. Take from that what you may.

Sinestro vs. Hal, I can not wait.

I think they could do a Sinestro Corps war and introduce Star Sapphire in the second one.

argh! it doesn't start here in Oz until August 4. On the other hand, I had already seen Thor twice before it started in the US.

I dont think that this movie is going to do so well. First Class numbers at best, I hope I am wrong. This movie only seems to appeal to fanboys which isn't a bad thing for us initially. Hopefully some early high reviews will get some buzz going and it will have a good opening weekend that will draw in crowds the following week. The effects look good but Reynolds painted neck and mask look bad. His head looks like it is floating on his body and his mask looks like...well I am kicking a dead horse here. I have no doubt that Reynolds will do a good job as Hal. The poor production quality of the third Blade is what put people off when it comes to Ryan Reynolds as an action star but he is a better actor than he gets credit for. A sequel is going to happen no matter what numbers they pull in.

This film will have some different demographics interested in it outside of the regular comic book fan. This is what will make it more popular than "X-Men: First Class", "Thor", or "Captain America: The First Avenger".

i think PaulRom is right INTRUDER,superman returns despite having disappointing collections for such a leading character did crack the $200 mil mark and adjusted for inflation it's around 220 now,and green lantern is not such a first tier character and like Thor if it manages to do business around 180-190 mil mark i think WB will be really happy and can consider it a success.that should be the realistic expectation WB or anyone should have from a movie like GL specially since this is the 1st.

the only movie i see going past $200 mil at this point is captain America because he is a 1st tier character in marvel and the most recognizable of the characters coming out this summer.

@Intruder: Of course I'm not talking Superman Returns numbers. GL will make more than that, I'm confident. I was referring to the success of the first two Supes films, and hopefully Man Of Steel will be as much of a success.
