The name may not sound familiar to general comic fans, but Jeff Wolfe has been an integral part of bringing comic book movies to life. He's worked as a stuntman in both
Daredevil and
Punisher: War Zone; and he was even a part of the short lived
Birds of Prey TV series. He recently visited the
Thor movie set and won a role in
Green Lantern.
IESB recently had the opportunity to catch up with Wolfe, and he was eager to talk about his experiences on the sets of these films:
IESB: I understand you're in the middle of a hectic schedule on Night Shoots.
"Fortunately we're shooting in New Orleans, and half of the city seems to be on "Night Shoots" if you know what I mean."
IESB: On Punisher: War Zone, you worked as Ray's double, and then went on to continue working with him on The Irishman and Book of Eli. What's it been like working with Ray?
"My friend Howard Chaykin calls me the only comic book geek in a superhero body he's ever met. I love the genre - always have. And to have the chance to be the Punisher? Come on, amazing! I got there and was met by Ray who proceeded to explain that we would be sharing the role of Frank Castle. The way he sees it, the double has to be exactly on the same page as the actor. So the character remains as one person. It was a great experience."
IESB: Did you have a chance to work with Ray on Thor, or at least get a chance to visit that set?
"Yep, I visited Ray during rehearsals. The costumes and sets were amazing. I was sorry I couldn't double him this time. But a few big acting opportunities arose, so I put a good friend in the spot. He's doing a fantastic job I hear."
IESB: I hear you scored yourself a role in Green Lantern.
"I was filming a part on NCIS a month ago when I got the call to go in and read for Green Lantern. So I went in, did the read, and did my best to forget about it. Two days later back on the set of NCIS, I got the call."
IESB: You have started filming right?
"Started shooting last Monday. Very exciting!"
IESB: Is there anything else you can say at all about the film or to the fans without getting yourself in trouble?
"Only that from what I've seen Ryan is the perfect choice to play Green Lantern. And it's great to see that he is a great guy off camera. He's one of the few who deserves to be where he's at."
