While Guardians of the Galaxy has gone on to become the highest grossing summer movie the United States, Ryan MeinerdingMarvel's longtime conceptual artist and Visual Development Supervisor, has taken to his Facebook to share one of his "small, fun contributions" to the space epic film. Below is Meinerding's concept art for Howard the Duck, who made a blink-and-you'll-miss-it appearance in the film before showing up (and even speaking) during the post-credits scene.

Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy expands the Marvel Cinematic Universe into the cosmos, where brash adventurer Peter Quill finds himself the object of an unrelenting bounty hunt after stealing a mysterious orb coveted by Ronan, a powerful villain with ambitions that threaten the entire universe. To evade the ever-persistent Ronan, Quill is forced into an uneasy truce with a quartet of disparate misfits–Rocket, a gun-toting raccoon, Groot, a tree-like humanoid, the deadly and enigmatic Gamora and the revenge-driven Drax the Destroyer. But when Peter discovers the true power of the orb and the menace it poses to the cosmos, he must do his best to rally his ragtag rivals for a last, desperate stand - with the galaxy’s fate in the balance. Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy is presented by Marvel Studios and stars Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Bradley Cooper as the voice of Rocket, Vin Diesel as the voice of Groot, Lee Pace, Michael Rooker, Karen Gilian, Djimon Hounsou with John C. Reilly, Glenn Close as Commander Rael and Benicio del Toro as The Collector. Distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures, the film opens August 1, 2014

If anything at all, I can see Howard getting an animated series on the Disney Channel after all this publicity from his cameo, but that would be about it.

i think the biggesst role he could get in a future movie is a collector role... just a cameo for plot progression. i think he would get a one shot too but i think marvel has stopped making those.

I loved the cameo. It says that Marvel really wants to please the fans along with making great movies. Personally I think a cameo here and there would work out fine enough. If they make a movie i would want it completely separate from the MCU.

I didn't even recognize him.

They should have used the 80's look.

I like the 80's look myself. I'm kinda glad they didnt go with that look because it really does look like a little person in a duck suit.

Nice concept art, not interested In Full Feature OR Wasting my time after the movie. That after credit scene was up there with IM3.

I don't like 'fun' scenes after watching a movie just one that has some plot progression.

Worst post credits ever. Huge disappointment. Worse than post credits for iron man 3

Howard the Duck has been in movies more than most DC charcaters.

>Are you saying you don't think WE'RE permanent?!

This scene was cool, don't see what people are complaining about. You wanted an after credits scene that would tie in with a future movie? Awww, that's too bad. Instead, you were introduced to the Infinity Gems, the Galaxy, and you also got a great film and Thanos. Man, that must really suck.

This site is literally full of "No Fun Allowed" grumps. I loved the scene. I'm tired of plot oriented credit scenes teasing future movies. Give me more silly ones. I hope all future credits scenes are some sort of Howard hijinks just to spite all the frickin nerds.

Didn't care for the scene, but no hard feelings. I think people got more than their money's worth with the dancing Grootling.
