Glenn Close spoke vaguely about her Nova Prime role in Guardians of the Galaxy back in June while she was attending the 18th Nantucket Film Festival. When an attendee of the Q&A had suggested that great thespians, like herself, are lately stuck in big special effects movies instead of great independent films, Close responded that studios have lately become owned by bigger corporations. “I just did two independent films this summer and I had an absolute ball with fantastic actors,” she said. “But in August, I'm gonna go off and do the next generation of Marvel Comics/Disney and I get to be the chief police of the galaxy.” Glenn Close then incompletely uttered that she'd only done the smaller films and wanted to do something different. “But I'm doing that because it will then afford me to go do the other kind of movies that I really love, and hopefully I will have a great time [on Guardians of the Galaxy]. It'll be a new experience for me, but practically speaking it will mean that I can do those smaller movies and it'll be okay.” In related news, Glenn Close apparently started shooting Guardians of the Galaxy today as Drax the Destroyer actor Dave Bautista tweeted that he was “more than star struck by a certain cast member today.” Plus, Twitter also spotted the Nova Prime actress with John C. Reilly, who plays Nova Corps officer Rhomann Dey, as the two attended a live show at the Palace Theatre in London last night. Anyhow, for video of the quotes from Glenn Close above, skip to the 4:52 mark below. What do you think?

“Guardians of the Galaxy,” the next epic adventure from Marvel Studios, is directed by James Gunn from his screenplay, with a story by Nicole Perlman and Gunn, and the film will introduce audiences to a whole new side of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The all-star cast includes Chris Pratt as Peter Quill aka Star-Lord, Zoe Saldana as Gamora, Dave Bautista as Drax the Destroyer, Lee Pace as Ronan the Accuser, Michael Rooker as Yondu, Karen Gillan as Nebula, two-time Academy Award nominee Djimon Hounsou as Korath, Academy Award® winner Benicio del Toro as The Collector, Academy Award nominee John C. Reilly as Rhomann Dey, and six-time Academy Award nominee Glenn Close as Nova Prime. Marvel’s “Guardians of the Galaxy” is slated for August 1, 2014!
