Thanks to Stitch Kingdom, we now know what to expect from the highly anticipated release of Guardians of the Galaxy on DVD and Blu-ray. Though the deleted scenes and gag reel are sure to be good fun, the featurettes are pretty short (compared to the hours of content which used to be found on the earlier Marvel Studios releases), but we are getting a preview of Avengers: Age of Ultron and commentary from writer and director James Gunn, so it's hard to complain too much!
  • Never-Before-Seen Deleted Scenes: ‘Fake Laugh’ (:23), ‘The Klyn Will Have to Do’ (:41), ‘No, I’m the Stupid One’ (:27), ‘Sisterly Love’ (1:40), ‘Dancing Guard’ (:45)
  • Making-of Featurettes: ‘Guide to the Galaxy with James Gunn’ (20:01), ‘The Intergalactic Visual Effects for The Guardians of the Galaxy‘ (6:50)
  • Exclusive Look at Marvel’s The Avengers: Age of Ultron (2:08)
  • Gag Reel (3:42)
  • Audio Commentary with director James Gunn

From Marvel, the studio that brought you the global blockbuster franchises of Iron Man, Thor, Captain America and The Avengers, comes a new team — the Guardians of the Galaxy. An action-packed, epic space adventure, Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy expands the Marvel Cinematic Universe into the cosmos, where brash adventurer Peter Quill finds himself the object of an unrelenting bounty hunt after stealing a mysterious orb coveted by Ronan, a powerful villain with ambitions that threaten the entire universe. To evade the ever-persistent Ronan, Quill is forced into an uneasy truce with a quartet of disparate misfits — Rocket, a gun-toting raccoon; Groot, a tree-like humanoid; the deadly and enigmatic Gamora; and the revenge-driven Drax the Destroyer. But when Peter discovers the true power of the orb and the menace it poses to the cosmos, he must do his best to rally his ragtag rivals for a last, desperate stand — with the galaxy’s fate in the balance. Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy stars Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Bradley Cooper as the voice of Rocket, Vin Diesel as the voice of Groot, Lee Pace, Michael Rooker, Karen Gilian, Djimon Hounsou with John C. Reilly, Glenn Close as Commander Rael and Benicio del Toro as The Collector.

I can see why only close to 5 minutes were cut. I agree with Rob walker on the movie to a point, it does sort of feel like a first cut. But hey, the movie is still great, and im definitely getting the blu ray.

No one shot and a Howard the Duck end of credit sequence??

Disappointing.

I guess marvel is done with one shots

Me either, Gus. I'll rent it over the winter when I'm good and drunk.

That's all there is? Hard to be excited for any bonus material after watching the latest Hobbit extended edition. 10 hours of juicy behind the scenes stuff. What's up with a huge company like Marvel putting out these lackluster home releases?

hoping to see more Kree in GOTG 2.

@DarthMarvell Yeah I know - was just disapointed with both the after credit scene as well as the lack of one shot.

Didn't write too clearly in my last post!!

@Carne so they can really sucker people in when they release the Phase 2 box set. Plus i think i know why there is no one shot. Cause Cap 2 sold really well and that didn't have a one shot, so i guess they figured they don't need them anymore

That's it? I think I'm just going to torrent this movie instead. If Marvel is going to be cheap with their home releases, then so will I.

Special features are nice and all, but what's most important to me on a home release is the movie itself. As long as the movie itself is on there, which it obviously is, I'm happy.

I can't wait until this comes out, but really wanted another one-shot. I think the MCU could really benefit from these to advance story lines and increase sales.

Even Amazing Spider-Man 2 had better special features than this.

I want a one shot that there are drunk aliens talking about "You heard that guy in some sort of red and gold armor that destroyed the whole entire Chitauri Army?"

No more one shots and Marvel doesn't seem to do Blu-ray/dvd combos anymore, very disappointing.

@kayo

I think we're going to see even more Kree in Captain Marvel and Inhuman movies

When are they ever going to explain the Mandarin One-Shot? I need to know. But Howard the Duck did deserve his own, just to see how he got there

No One-Shot? :(

I knew they were going to stop doing them after a while. I mean they don't technically make money off of them...

So sadly it does make sense.

No gag reel? Bawllz.

Marvel's home media has been a complete disappointment since the release of Thor: The Dark World (Even if that had a One-Shot). First they started selling off the standard Blu-Ray on its own at the same price for a Blu-Ray/DVD/Digital HD combo-pack. Also the shitty box art for the stand alone Blu-Ray. I compromised and bought the 3D/Blu-Ray/Digital combo pack of Captain America: The Winter Soldier, sold the 3D Blu-Ray, but [frick] that. I'm not doing that again. WASTE OF MONEY!
