From Marvel, the studio that brought you the global blockbuster franchises of Iron Man, Thor, Captain America and The Avengers, comes a new team--the Guardians of the Galaxy. An action-packed, epic space adventure, Marvel's "Guardians of the Galaxy" expands the Marvel Cinematic Universe into the cosmos, where brash adventurer Peter Quill finds himself the object of an unrelenting bounty hunt after stealing a mysterious orb coveted by Ronan, a powerful villain with ambitions that threaten the entire universe. To evade the ever-persistent Ronan, Quill is forced into an uneasy truce with a quartet of disparate misfits--Rocket, a gun-toting raccoon; Groot, a tree-like humanoid; the deadly and enigmatic Gamora; and the revenge-driven Drax the Destroyer. But when Quill discovers the true power of the orb and the menace it poses to the cosmos, he must do his best to rally his ragtag rivals for a last, desperate stand--with the galaxy's fate in the balance.

grif That was the first thing I noticed too.

It's still a cool poster but it would've been better if he was wearing a mask. Is it just me or do these look like black light posters?

i think there being no superhero film between this and x men will help its box office,i think the audience wont have superhero fatigue since the last superhero film was x men and that was in may and we have 2 months without superhero films so idk why but i have a feeling that might help guardians

Coulsonlives-they havent revealedthe full songlist in the mixtape but , of course, we have hooked on a feeling and spirit in the sky, but chris pratt revealed two in an interview, one of them being Ooh Child by the Five Stairsteps and Come and Get Your Love by Redbone

well its a business decision, well, they need to show there is a human character in this, and the other being that Chris Pratt is becoming a rising star

coulsonlives-no problem, what i like is that while the mixtape of 80s song is a cool idea,i like that gunn has said that it also provides a emotional connection to star lord cause apparently its his mothers mixtape

Both posters look incredibly awesome. Seem's like Drax copied his pose from the incredible hulk. So when is GOTG going to be teaming up with The Avengers?

Coulsonlives-i have heard there is a surprising amount of emotion in this and some nice character drama which blends well with the humor which there is a tons of in the film which is basically the tone of the guardian comics, ALOT of humor mixed with nice character drama and heart..i just hope we get a good film...im not expecting this to happen or this to happen cause sometimes if something does not go as we expect.. we dont like it and think its bad..so im just hoping for a good film and reading a couple of early reviews, it seems we may be getting a really good one

Movie posters aren't marketed towards readers of the source material, aka the minority. Why is this still an issue?

Why would he be wearing a mask in a poster? The posters are there to showcase who's in the movie, both as characters and actors.

Awesome.
So the gun is an Elemental gun, then?
ezio619
ezio619 - 6/11/2014, 6:56 AM
Pedrito-i think in the Q AND A that the guardians of the galaxy cast did to launch the second trailer, i think Pratt said its a variation on the elemental gun

@ezio
Yea, but if I remember correctly, in the previous group poster, where Starlord is in the same pose, his gun is just shooting two blue laser beams.
Here it's more detailed and not just lasers.

I like them all. At least they're all doing something different to one another. Don't care that the mask isn't on in a promotional poster. They want to promote CHRIS PRATT as Star Lord, not the other way around.

glad they made all the costumes practical effects and not CGI. Except groot and rocket of course.

Anyone else think this movie has a chance at best costuming/best makeup Oscars? I mean they are really something else. Drax reminds me of the detail put into the Orcs for LOTR. Which of course won a billion Oscars.

@dougieisrollingthejays

I think the academy general likes the more period piece costume stuff. But that being said in Makeup, along with Dallas buyers Club (which won) they had Bad Grandpa and The Lone Ranger.

So costume probably not. Makeup, the slimmest of chances
