With the first teaser trailer for Guardians of the Galaxy now out and about, director James Gunn recently participated in a great, fast-paced Q&A with Kevin Pereira of Pointless podcast. While the full interview is being saved for next week, Pereira has shared five minutes of their chat, which reveals some intriguing nuggets. One of those nuggets is that while Marvel Studios has partial rights to the Skrulls, they do not own the Badoon, which is why we'll see the Sakaaran in the movie. Listen to the interview above and be warned it contains strong language. What do you think?

Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy expands the Marvel Cinematic Universe into the cosmos, where brash adventurer Peter Quill finds himself the object of an unrelenting bounty hunt after stealing a mysterious orb coveted by Ronan, a powerful villain with ambitions that threaten the entire universe. To evade the ever-persistent Ronan, Quill is forced into an uneasy truce with a quartet of disparate misfits–Rocket, a gun-toting raccoon, Groot, a tree-like humanoid, the deadly and enigmatic Gamora and the revenge-driven Drax the Destroyer. But when Peter discovers the true power of the orb and the menace it poses to the cosmos, he must do his best to rally his ragtag rivals for a last, desperate stand - with the galaxy’s fate in the balance. Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy is presented by Marvel Studios and stars Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Bradley Cooper as the voice of Rocket, Vin Diesel as the voice of Groot, Lee Pace, Michael Rooker, Karen Gilian, Djimon Hounsou with John C. Reilly, Glenn Close as Commander Rael and Benicio del Toro as The Collector. Distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures, the film opens August 1, 2014.

I like Gunn. He seems very outgoing and relaxed about answering the questions. He's a true fan. Super and PG Porn are fantastic and this should be no different.

mrcbm-star lord and star fox team up to find the a secret gem, a gem not told in legend due to its immense power: THE ANAL GEM!!

plus i like that the movie takes it self seriously but not too seriously whcih is what the guardians comic book by abnett and lanning does but in that they will be dramatic elements to this film and gunn has said that its about these characters, their emotions and relationships so yeah, man i hope to god its a good if not great film

James Gunn is the messiah of cosmic Marvel. This guy is going to run the show for Marvel Studios cosmic properties. That GotG trailer [frick]ing blew my mind. I might even want to have James Gunn's babies.

So Kevin stated at an avengers premiere that marvel owns some rights to the skulls and gunn just confirmed the same thing. I wonder what that means. It seems like there is something holding Marvel back from using them but if they own partial rights and could use them in a film, wouldn't guardians of the galaxy be a great way to introduce those characters? I'm interested to see the reasoning on why they're not using that potential.

@ThePowerCosmic IDK because if that's the case, Nova Corps would be with FOX as well and The Punisher would be would Sony. Though you could be right. =/

Funnily enough, the Marvel character Starfox is also a Titan, like Thanos.

But,his power would turn this movie into Alien Erotica...lol

Seriously,go wiki the character....

Badoon isn't a ff4 regular!! Aaaa i wish marvel had all the cosmic side!! X-men and spidey are ok at fox and Sony but cosmic side should be together!!

Cool so we can see the Skrull/Kree War. But I don't think Marvel share the rights with Fox on the Super Skrull, so sadly we can't see the Ronan and Kl'rt rivalry. They could just make a new badass Skrull for the MCU, but I really like the Super Skrull.
BigChuter
BigChuter - 2/20/2014, 10:54 AM
I think they should give Rocket Marvel's first F-word.
I'd also really like to hear Groot speak. I'm very interested in how he's being characterized as super sweet and innocent, and I wonder how that'll come out in Vin Diesel's performance.
AGoodHonestMan
AGoodHonestMan - 2/20/2014, 10:58 AM
@ Lordmushu

I'm guessing its a grey area like Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver. They're probably saving them because the Skrull's need explaination. They're already introducing the Kree so shoving the Skrulls in as well might be too much.

Star Fox in a GOTG movie would be awesome. haha

@ Marlicious

A 'grey area' like Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver. Both studios can use them.
