More Marvel! Kevin Feige had a quick interview with the guys over at ScreenCrush and he took the time to share that Nova was actually apart of the early process of the film but, "there was a fork in the road that we came to at one point in the development process where we decided to eliminate Nova and go full-on with Peter Quill’s story."

For those of you who are not familar with Nova he is (as Marvel.com describes him):

Randomly chosen to become a member of the Nova Corps until the Annihilation Wave destroyed them all, leaving him imbued with their combined power and guided by the super-intelligent Worldmind computer, Richard Rider wages a one-man battle for justice as Nova.

So do you want to see Richard Rider/Nova in the MCU soon? Do you think he can still cameo in Guardians of the Galaxy? Sound off below!

@McNyagano Nova is basically the Hal Jordan of the Marvel Universe.

Nova killed Annihilus once. Helped send Thanos to the Cancerverse. Restored order to the entire galaxy after the Annihilation Wave. Only character in the history of Marvel to be turned into children's building blocks.

He had a pretty good comic series from 2006-2011 by Abnett & Lanning and everyone loved the shit out of it so they want him in live action.

Read Marvel Annihilation for a good Nova or cosmic story in general.

So he has super powers then? What powersw does he have? Cause none of the Nova corps in GOTG were doing anything superhuman. I did see one who had a different armour than everyone else though.

But Elmayimbe said he was in the movie.

He's just a real fun heavy hitter.
Around the time of the annihilation wave, which was the time this roster of the Guardians formed, he played a big part. I'd love to see him in this flick. I bet he's in a post credits scene.

There's different levels of Nova corps: corpsman, millenian, centurion, prime, etc. Richard Rider was the Nova Prime (the leader).

I'm a little busy right now so I'll let Wikipedia do it for me ;) (I haven't read it so I don't know if is completely right)

Nova Prime – The Nova Centurion designated as 'Prime' is the highest-ranking member of the Nova Corps. The Nova Prime is endowed with a vast portion of the Nova-Force, and capable of great feats of energy manipulation and projection.[10]
Centurion – The Centurions are the top tier of the Nova Corps. It is from the Centurions that the Centurion Nova Prime is selected. The Centurions can lift approximately 20 tons.[citation needed]
Denarians – The Denarians are the middle tier of the Nova Corps. They have access to 75% of the Nova Force compared to the Centurions. The Denarians can lift approximately 15 tons.[citation needed]
Millennians – The Millennians have 50% of the Nova Force compared to the Centurians. They cannot fly, but they can pilot one-man sky flyers. Millennians can lift approximately 10 tons, have limited invulnerability, and have small photon blasters in the armbands of their uniform.[citation needed]
Corpsman – The Corpsman are the entry level of the Nova Corps. Any graduates from the Space Academy must apply to the Nova Corps upon graduation. They have access to 25% of the Nova Force compared to the Centurions. They can lift approximately 5 tons with limited invulnerability. Like the Millennians, the Corpsman have small photon blasters in the armbands of the their uniform.[citation needed]

Maybe it was too much to put in the movie and in future sequels (Spoilers-now that the Guardians are part of the Nova) they will introduce all those things

They are comparing Green Lantern and Nova Corps as being both intergalactic corporations that enlist different races to protect the universe. Yes they are different in many ways but at the same time hold the same purpose.

The Nova Corps should have a solo film though I would rather see a decent GL film.
