James Gunn Teases A 'Baby Groot' Scene From GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY Vol. 2

It's just a thumbnail sketch of a scene Gunn shot earlier today involving the character, but it's still a pretty cool little tease of what Baby Groot might well be up to in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2....

At the end of the first Guardians of the Galaxy Groot sacrificed himself to save his pals, but was then "regrown" as a sapling just in time to treat us all to that dance number in the mid-credits scene. Most of us assumed he'd be fully grown for the sequel, but the recent official promo image that was released confirmed that the well-loved tree alien would still be Baby Groot.

This morning, director James Gunn shared the sketch below, which depicts the little fella running along with some kind of lizard creature in his arms. This was just shot today, so although it doesn't seem like much it does give us an insight into one of the scenes from the movie that'll involve the character.

Set to the all-new sonic backdrop of Awesome Mixtape #2, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 continues the team’s adventures as they unravel the mystery of Peter Quill’s true parentage. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is produced by Marvel Studios’ president, Kevin Feige, with Louis D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso, Jonathan Schwartz, Nik Korda and Stan Lee serving as executive producers.

The Marvel sequel is set to hit theaters on May 5, 2017.

I hope Rocket Raccoon isn't playing "daddy" the whole movie.
That would suck.
