In hindsight, yeah. Who would've thoughy we'd get, erm, love robots in a Disney MCU film.

I really hope Drax dies in Avengers 3 so he can't talk about his sensitive nipples, enormous bowel movements, and getting aroused by watching his wife sit motionless anymore. He became a parody of his himself.

@blackandyellow - His wife never really bothered me, but i agree with the rest . He was such a badass in gotg 1. Controversial opinion. Don't think he should die though, he can still be fixed.

GotGV2 was all about family. The end of the first movie shows Drax acknowledging them as his friends for the first time, and showing that it's a new concept to him.

In the sequel, we see his arc further so that he becomes more comfortable around others for the first time since he lost his family. We get to see the rest of the Guardians pierce that veil to get to Drax's emotions, which was a lot more important than allowing Drax to look badass.

Groot being a baby altered the dynamic of the group as well, we see Gamora being motherly for the first time with him, Peter being forced to become more responsible in turn to Groot's childish irresponsibility, and we even see a bit of how that effects Gamora and Peter's relationship with one another.

With Peter basically taking the role on as the new father and Drax obviously settling into the drunk uncle, Rocket feels left out and even that no one needs him. This makes him especially vulnerable to his insecurities about his personality as we see him explore with Yondu, and later when Peter assures him that the rest of the family wouldn't leave him behind.

Tie the whole thing up neatly with Cat Stephens' Father and Son bow around Ego's story and Yondu's funeral the way Gunn did, and you have a film about family.

I don't know if yall remember but the song that plays when they first cut to Contraxia has been in my head for a year now and I (along with many others) have searched everywhere for it. Gunn said on Twitter the singer for Mindless Self Indulgence recorded the song specially for him and the movie and it hasn't been released anywhere to this day. It sucks because it really is a great song. This is the best recreation I can find on youtube, idk when he plans on releasing it.

Some of the inspiration for those love bots seems to have come from The Fifth Element.

@HeavyMetal4Life -

TFE was the movie that came to mind most when I first saw GOTG and that's gone a long way towards me being extra endeared to that corner of the MCU. One of my favorite sci fi movies growing up

@OmegaDaGrodd - Great movie, very classic. You can tell it was certainly on their mind when thinking about this film. One of the concept pieces for Mainframe is also very Fifth Elementy. Hope they go with this design in the future.

Rewatching the MCU and after passing through THOR 2 I realized that I've really taken Gunn's zaniness for granted. The MCU has obviously gotten weirder over time and THE DARK WORLD does a good job of starting to broaden the horizons, but Gunn going so far overboard on certain things has really gone a long way towards making the galaxy seem far more alien and lived in than the MCU had seemed up to that point

So, is not one of those fembots Starfire?

The Love bots reminds me of the sex bots of Rick & Morty. Such a funny episode.
