Frank Miller and Robert Rodriguez's Sin City: A Dame to Kill For is a flop and soppy teen flick If I Stay (starring Kick-Ass' Chloe Grace Moretz) is also underperforming. That leaves the door wide open for Guardians of the Galaxy to return to the top spot - where it will also beat Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles - and break another record at the same time. After earning a total of $239 million by yesterday, the James Gunn helmed movie look set to pass $246 million today meaning that it will top Transformers: Age of Extinction's $243.3 million domestic haul. By the end of the weekend, the latest Marvel Studios movie should reach $252 million! Maleficent is now at third with $237 million and is followed by X-Men: Days of Future Past with $232.6 million and Dawn of the Planet of the Apes' $203.2 million. Of course, Transformers: Age of Extinction remains the year's highest grossing movie worldwide with over $1.05 billion. Guardians of the Galaxy - which cost $170 million to produce - is still doing well with $430.7 million and has yet to open in China and Japan.
