HELLBOY R-Rated Reboot In The Works From Neil Marshall; Will Star STRANGER THINGS Actor David Harbour

Hellboy fans were devastated when original director Guillermo del Toro announced that a third installment was officially dead, but we do have some good news regarding the big-screen future of the iconic half-demon hero.

The character's creator, Mike Mignola, just posted the following to his Facebook page:

While it's a shame we won't get to see Ron Perlman reprise the role with Del Toro at the helm, David Harbour does seem like a good fit for the cigar-chomping smartass, and Neil Marshall did direct some of the most action-packed and intense episodes of Game of Thrones in addition to his feature credits such as The Descent and Dog Soldiers.

As of right now, we don't have a whole lot more to go on aside from Mignola's announcement, but we'll update if and when we find out more. For now, let us know what you think of this massive Hellboy news in the usual place.

UPDATE: THR has added a few more details. According to them, the reboot will be produced by Larry Gordon and Lloyd Levin for Millennium Films, with Dark Horse Entertainment also involved.

Hellboy: Rise of the Blood Queen

A R-rated HELLBOY MOVIE

Directed by Neil Marshall
Script by Andrew Cosby, Christopher Golden and Hellboy creator Mike Mignola.

AND David Harbour as Hellboy?

I never thought I would want to see a Hellboy movie without Guillermo Del Toro, but HELL YEAH! I WANT TO SEE THIS SHIT SO MUCH NOW!

@RagnarGolem - The screenwriters are trash but Harbour, Mignola, and the original producers are exciting.

@Elayem - They're comic book writers too.

Andrew Cosby is the creator/writer of 'A Town Called Eureka' (good show)

Christopher Golden wrote a lot of Hellboy's universe comics and they're really good.

Mignola is a writer too and Neil Marshall is a writer/director.

I think the movie is in good hands.

@RagnarGolem - I didn't realize they had written comics, that's good.

I had just saw on their imdb page one of them had only written a tv movie and cheap video games from the early 2000s, and the other wrote D-grade horror flicks.

Glad they have the creator Mignola writing with them though, hopefully this turns out great.
