HELLBOY Reboot Gets A New Release Date - Will Now Open One Week After SHAZAM!

Ahead of its panel at New York Comic-Con next week, it has now been announced that Neil Marshall's forthcoming Hellboy reboot has been pushed back three months to April 2019. More details past the jump...

It looks like anxious fans will have to wait a little longer to see David Harbour's half-demon hero on the big screen, as the Hellboy reboot from director Neil Marshal has been pushed back three months.

The latest film based on the Mike Mignola creation was originally set to hit theaters on January 11, 2019 but will now premiere on April 12, 2019. As a result of this change, Hellboy will now open alongside the Robert Downey Jr.-led The Voyage of Doctor Dolittle. Also, it pits the R-Rated film against Shazam!, which will fly into theaters the week prior.

No reason was given for the new release date, but January is generally considered a dumping ground for movies, so the move may be a sign that the studio has confidence in the movie.

While Harbour may be the film's lead, Hellboy also stars Milla Jovovich (Resident Evil), Ian McShane (Deadwood) and Daniel Dae Kim (Lost).

@ThorArms - Outside of "Resident Evil", "The Fifth Element" and, "Ultraviolet" (I guess?) Milla Jovovich has been in terrible films, but she's still a good actress, and David Harbour, Ian McShane and Daniel Dae Kim are talented as well.

I am fine with this Kaley Cuoco??

@SisterSunday52 - She was pretty good in the Fourth Kind, if you're into that kinda stuff. I thought she did well in it.

Honorable mention to Katinka in Zoolander. She was hilarious.

With how crazy time keeps flying over us this extra delay won't be nothing in the grand scheme of things.

But having a teaser trailer released around now would be fine.

Maybe next month?

Must have a lot of confidence in this movie.

If Jumanji can stand against Star Wars then I don't see why this movie can't stand against Shazam. Interested to see how this will be.

@Comicbookart

Two different markets. This will hard R. Shazam looks like the most family friendly DC movie to date.

Doesn’t make me lose faith in the movie. Might even raise the hype level.

But which one, you ask? The user or the actor?
Heh, isn't that the question of the day... :P

@JonC - not saying it won't be popular with others... but it clearly seems marketed to kids.

They must be super confident in this one. I actually am looking forward to this quite a bit. Hope we get a trailer very soon.
