A QUIET PLACE Producer Says John Krasinski Will Definitely Be Involved In The Sequel In Some Capacity

Following the success of A Quiet Place, producer Andrew Form has confirmed John Krasinski will return for the sequel in some capacity. However, it's unclear if he will return as writer and director again.

Paramount's horror-thriller A Quiet Place has been one of the surprise hits of this year, grossing over $300 million worldwide and receiving rave reviews from critics and moviegoers alike. Suffice to say, a sequel is pretty much a no-brainer. And although the studio is taking its time with the follow-up and only in the beginning phases, one thing already seems set in stone - John Krasinski will be involved with the project in some way.

"Oh he's definitely involved," producer Andrew Form told Collider. A Quiet Place was produced by Michael Bay's Platinum Dunes along with Andrew Form and Brad Fuller. Speaking to Collider, Form revealed they are just now starting to talk about a sequel and there is no rush on it.

"We’re lucky on this one. I’ve had movies where the studio says to you, ‘Here’s your date. Let’s go!’ and on this one we’re not rushing anything, which is amazing. So we’re gonna take our time, we’re gonna figure out where to go, but there is no rush on it and we’re just starting to talk about it. We’re figuring out what everyone’s involvement’s gonna be and what the actual next movie’s gonna be. The first one is so special to us that we really want to take our time with this and not rush anything."

John Krasinski not only starred in the movie but also directed and helped write it. Much of the film's success can be attributed to Krasinski's creative work. Form praised Krasinski's vision as a director and a scriptwriter, particularly his ability to take the spec script and "really make it his own." However, he stopped short of confirming whether or not Krasinski will return in those same roles for the sequel. "I think it's too early to talk about that," Form said when asked if Krasinski will be writing or directing the sequel.

Of course, nothing is actually set in stone as of yet. With no clear timetable on the sequel, anything can happen. A Quiet Place arrived on 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, and DVD today.

Unless there is a really well executed story to be told, wouldn't it fare better as a stand-alone horror feature?

Shotgun works, but don't keep it with you while searching for the kids, just use it at the very end. Is barefoot really quieter than a pair of soft soled shoes, how noisy could moccasin shoes be?

Loved this film, loved the ending.

Doesn’t need a sequel.

It was a very enjoyable movie.

If you get the opportunity, watch the special features on the Blu-ray .. I found it made me enjoy the movie even more once I learnt some of the behind the scenes stuff

John was WAY more involved in the movie then it appears most of you understand. He wrote the screen play, he found the location, he picked the cast (though Emily sort of picked herself in a very cool way) and the daughter in the movie really is def which I thought was a super cool point and was non negotiable for John

If he is in any way, shape or form involved .. it will be great

I wouldn't mind a prequel to be totally honest, but the ending leads itself to more story. Now that they know the weakness

And it's not that scientists haven't figured it out, we don't know what's been figured out. Seems to me mass communication is extremely difficult as John's character couldn't find a broadcast signal and the newspapers seemed to have stopped coming out

There is plenty story to tell

I really enjoyed this movie.

@bigdannymac - I know the word overrated is overrated, but I found this movie a bit underwhelming. It was so hyped, I remember Chris Pratt freaking out and saying it was mind-blowing, I thought it was cool and original, but some of it completely unrealistic, nonsensical and full of tropes. Ending was pretty lame as well, IMO. It's a cool movie, but not what The Descent was at the time, for example.

Only interesting aspect was the idea of having a deaf character who would be unable to hear the monsters approaching or notice aspects that would cause the monsters to attack.

The idea of the monsters being defeated by sound despite having sound be the focal point of how they hunt is a bit dumb and it does not really make sense that the monsters would not have been defeated prior by some loud music or frequencies playing when they first appeared.

@Scarilian - "The idea of the monsters being defeated by sound despite having sound be the focal point of how they hunt is a bit dumb" Almost reminds me of Signs where the alien's one weakness is water, but they go to a planet where 75% of it is covered in the stuff.

@YoloSwaggins812 -
Yeah, pretty much. It does not really equate for how the monster outbreak began either, as presumably the sound would have occured a lot more when the initial attacks began.

Only time it has ever been used effectively was 'War Of The Worlds' where it was affecting the aliens the second they arrived.
