The first trailer for Colm McCarthy's (Peaky Blinders, Doctor Who, Ripper Street) adaptation of The Girl With All The Gifts has been released, and we think you'll agree this is one to keep a very close eye on.

Starring Gemma Arterton, Glenn Close and Paddy Considine, the movie is set in a future filled with flesh-eating "Hungries", and focuses on a team of scientists/soldiers as they attempt to contain the spread of the fungal virus which causes the transformation.

Check out the trailer and synopsis below and be sure to share your thoughts in the usual place.

The near future; humanity has been all but destroyed by a mutated fungal disease that eradicates free will and turns its victims into flesh-eating “hungries”. Only a small group of children seem immune to its effects. At an army base in rural England, this group of unique children are being studied, subjected to cruel experiments by biologist Dr. Caldwell. Despite having been infected with the zombie pathogen that has decimated the world, these children retain normal thoughts and emotions. And while still being subject to the craving for human flesh that marks the disease these second- generation “hungries” are able to think and feel making them a vital resource in the search for a cure.

The children attend school lessons daily, guarded by the ever watchful Sergeant Parks. But one little girl, Melanie, stands out from the rest. Melanie is special. She excels in the classroom, is inquisitive, imaginative and loves her favourite teacher Miss Justineau. When the base falls, Melanie escapes along with Miss Justineau, Sergeant Parks and Dr. Caldwell. Against the backdrop of a blighted Britain, Melanie must discover what she is and ultimately decide both her own future and that of the human race.

@Jeremius It's related to the site in that M.R. Carey is Mike Carey, the writer of the previous Vertigo LUCIFER series, many issues of THE DREAMING, and several issues of X-MEN as well as many other comics.

@MonsterSquad35 - NO remakes of Krull. That was a classic.

@MonsterSquad35 - Not sure they could do it justice. It would need another amazing score, which was the highlight of the movie. It just doesn't seem like people gobble up the fantasy stuff lately, unless it is ultra well done like Game of Thrones.

They should do what they originally intended and do a movie about Corwin and Lyssa's son. I own the oversized comic from the movie as well. Some of my younger friends liked the movie and would gather when I played it up at Grad School.

@Rothwilder - Agreed man. And good points on if it would be remade. Best leave well enough alone. However I could see every kid with the Glaive from Krull. Also, don't eh look liek Benedict Cumberbatch? hahaha
