World War Z: An Oral History of the Zombie War is a 2006 post-apocalyptic horror novel by Max Brooks. It is a follow-up to his 2003 book The Zombie Survival Guide. Rather than a grand overview or narrative, World War Z is a collection of individual accounts in the form of first-person anecdote. Brooks plays the role of an agent of the United Nations Postwar Commission who published the report a decade after the Zombie War. The United Nations left out much of his work from the official report, choosing to focus on facts and figures from the war rather than the individual stories that form the bulk of Brooks' novel. The interviews chart a decade-long war against zombies from the view point of many different people of various nationalities. The personal accounts also describe the changing religious, geo-political, and environmental aftermath of the Zombie War.

World War Z was inspired by The Good War, an oral history of World War II by Studs Terkel; and by the zombie films of director George A. Romero.

World War Z is an upcoming post-apocalyptic horror film based on the novel of the same name by Max Brooks. The film is directed by Marc Forster and stars Brad Pitt, with a script written by J. Michael Straczynski and Matthew Michael Carnahan. The film is scheduled to be released on December 21, 2012. After a bidding war with Leonardo DiCaprio's production company Appian Way, Brad Pitt's Plan B Entertainment secured the screen rights to the novel in 2007.

So which are the zombies, I'm having a hard time being able to tell.

I'm a huge fan of the book and I'll say this, I don't know about this movie so far (from what I've seen and read). The zombines in the book (or I should say "ghouls") are lumbering and move slow. In fact, that aspect of their nature is an important part of the book. The high speed zombines (ala 28 Days Later) is not cool with me.

Don't even get me started on the plot change from the book...

Yeah, this doesn't look anything like "World War Z". I'm beginning to think they just kept the title for a PG-13 zombie film.

This movie better be something really special or it will bomb. I'm finally bored with zombies. Throw them on the pile with vampires I guess.

@marvelrno1 really? You choose two comedies to state that the zombie genre can't go any further? That's weak. Have you ever even heard of Romero?
