Crossed: NSFW Trailer For Movie Adaptation Of "The Most Disturbing Comic Of All Time" Is Not For The Squeamish

Following the massive success of Prime Video's The Boys, another of writer Garth Ennis' comic book creations is heading to the screen, and this one is even more twisted, depraved, and downright diabolical.

Last year, we got word that The Sadness director Rob Jabbaz had been enlisted to helm a feature adaptation of Crossed, and an age-restricted teaser has now been released (via Bloody Disgusting).

“It has been a real delight working with Garth Ennis and Six Studios developing Crossed for the big screen,” said Jabbaz when he boarded the project. “From day one, our primary goal has been to deliver a faithful adaptation of the original series, along with a few new surprises. I certainly hope audiences are ready for this.”

Crossed and its various spin-offs are generally considered to be among the most disturbing comics of all time, and with good reason. The story focuses on the survivors of a pandemic that turns its victims into homicidal maniacs. Marked with a red cross-shaped rash on their faces, these individuals retain their basic human intellects, but are unable to control their worst impulses, engaging in all manner of atrocities.

The original 10-issue miniseries - which will be the basis for the movie - was published from 2008-10, but has since spawned more than 200 issues from various other writers and artists, including the likes of Alan Moore.

Carl Choi of Six Studios produces, along with Ben Hung of Retro Entertainment and Ken Levin of Nightsky Productions.

Choi says the script is "an intimate, human story," and “the most faithful adaptation possible,” likening it to "Contagion meets The Walking Dead, with hints of Alex Garland’s Civil War, in that it’s a road movie across a ravaged United States."

Devin Druid (13 Reasons Why) and Ash Santos (American Horror Story) lead the cast as Stan and Cindy, the leaders of a group of strangers thrown together as they attempt to escape northward away from the infected known as the Crossed.

The rest of the cast includes Ethan Jones Romero (Law & Order) as Thomas; Kyla Hee (Psychosis) as Kelly; Chido Nwokocha (Top Gun: Maverick) as Kitrick; Spenser Granese (Dope Thief) as Brett; Bob Morley (The 100) as Randall; Ana Mulvoy Ten (American Crime) as Sheena; Steven Hack (Little Death) as ‘Geoff; and newcomer Lorenzo Ross as Patrick.

Owen Harn (Cobra Kai) will lead the infected Crossed as the sinister Horsecock, along with Fedor Steer (Haunted Mansion) as Face and Kelvin Adekunle (City of Love) as Stump. Angie Campbell will play Amy, and Peter Falls will play Joel.

The trailer isn't quite as gruesome and disturbing as you might expect, but it's still definitely not for the squeamish.

Some things just need to be left unmade. This is one of those things. Gross and disgusting

@captainwalker - It shouldn't be live streamed to the world. Period. Full Stop. I'm not debating whether or not he should get the death penalty. Making it public and streamed online is absolutely politcal theatre and unnecessary and dangerous.

Again, you talk about lowering the moral standards of the poulace by normalizing things, I hope you keep that same energry across the board.

@SATW42 - My instincts agree with you that it should not be televised but on the other hand I know historically people were actually executed in the public square and maybe with good purpose? I dunno. It feels sickening that sort of thing being broadcast to be honest.

SATW42 - 10/9/2026, 10:52 AM
@captainwalker - yeah so you don't ACTUALLY care about moral standards in the slightest. fake murders desensitize us as a society, but real killing publicly broadcasted has no such negative effects. OK...

@SteviesRightFoo - There’s an old English saying: You are what you eat. This does not only apply to the food we consume.

I tell my kids this all the time. Watching is purely receiving (unless you pause to reflect every few minutes), while reading engages the mind differently. It may be a simple man’s exercise to draw moral norms from entertainment. But it is equally, if not more, simple to not see how entertainment can shape us.

You're absolutely right. Dr Anthony Fauci's and the WHO's concerns in relation to the world's health and safety should indeed be televised, and thank God they were. Otherwise, who knows just how far the pandemic's death toll would have skyrocketed.

@ProudPatriot76 - Airing a Tribunal or trial wouldn't be an issue. People should be able to see the process at work and the verdict. That's where the lesson lies. Not the firing squad. And I'm not saying I disagree with the sentence, I just don't see what is gained by livestreaming it like the superbowl. Are they going to sell advertising slots? Open up the odds on Kalshi?

Although the execution itself could be called Justice served, I don't think watching it serves as a deterrant to anybody from doing these type of crimes. Statistically speaking, mass shooters and terroorists especially, usually undertake these plans from a perspective of martyrdom. Most don't go in, expecting to survive it.

Again, as I've said to others, I have the ability to not watch- and that's what I would choose.

Lucasberg
Lucasberg - 10/9/2026, 12:02 PM
@SATW42 - Devil's advocate for a second: I am always skeptical imagining our own evolution and whether what we do now is better than what people did in former times. C.S. Lewis referred to this kind of viewpoint as "Chronological snobbery" - which impulsively sees our current way of doing things as smarter/better.

Anyhow, I think the purpose of such executions was to help limit evil acts in society - to strike fear in the heart of someone who might be tempted to commit some terrible crime.

Again, just playing devil's advocate for a second. Instinctively not a fan of televised executions.
FireGunn
FireGunn - 10/9/2026, 12:25 PM
@Lucasberg - "Anyhow, I think the purpose of such executions was to help limit evil acts in society"

There is no proof or evidence that executions, let alone public executions, limit evil. Absolutely none

@FireGunn - whatever you need to tell yourself to help you cope, go ahead
Lucasberg
Lucasberg - 10/9/2026, 1:32 PM
@FireGunn - I really don't know how you could measure the efficacy of something like that. Even if I could point to crime going down it could be related to a whole host of other factors. So pointing out the lack of proof or evidence in this is not a slam dunk point.

Positive evidence is not the only persuasive basis for me to believe in the utility of a thing too. I am one that believes Scripture has the corner on human nature and under the Law, public execution and the community even participating in that was called for at times (!) - Deuteronomy 21:21.

Now of course, I'm no Israelite nor do I believe we are under any Theocratic system any longer. However, even outside of the Theocratic system, capitol punishment seems pretty clearly prescribed for ordinary governments to practice and during a time when public executions were common (Romans 13:1-6).

Outside of that, just speaking from common human experience, avoiding shame is a powerful motivator which seems to be the thing capitalized upon by holding public executions.

I am aware this is a nasty can of worms (and again, my sympathies are naturally against public executions) but just being transparent about why I question whether my instincts against public execution are grounded in good reason or just mere sentiment and pop culture.

@captainwalker -

No, you got that right. Wasn't your stance actually one of televising Fauchi himself, and not his death or execution?

I mean, that's what you said, right? 'Cause Lord knows it would be akin to a felony if you actively advocated for the death - sorry, livestreamed execution - of a public servant, right?

...right?
Patient2670
Patient2670 - 10/9/2026, 3:39 PM
@captainwalker - Who, Fauci? If we're basing it on how many timed he plead the fifth, it's barely 1/4 as many times as "The POS" did in just his New York case (450 times, for the record).

"I once asked, 'if you're innocent, why are you taking the fifth ammendment?' I now have the answer. When your family, your company, and all the people in your orbit have become the targets of an unfounded, politically motivated witch hunt supported by lawyersprosecutors, and the fake news media, you have no choice." - that's a direct quote from the same POS. Of course, he didn't get a pardon, he just claimed presidential immunity.
captainwalker
captainwalker - 10/9/2026, 3:42 PM
@TemporarilyHere - Not knowing about the said televised execution and to whom it was referring, the only person I could guess being deserving is the man that lied about the known consequences of taking an mrna covid vaccine. Most truth tellers have no reason to plead the fifth 110 times and lie to congress, my bad if I thought we were a nation of laws.
