EVIL DEAD Gets NC-17 Rating, Heads Back To Editing Room

Director Fede Alvarez has revealed that the MPAA has given the Evil Dead reboot an NC-17 rating and that they'll have to go back to the editing room to tone the movie down for an R-rating. I'm sure that redband trailer is still giving nightmares to more than a few.

Hopefully, we'll get the NC-17 version on DVD and blu-ray or maybe even a special uncut release in theaters. Based on that insane redband trailer this isn't too much of a surprise, honestly.
In the much anticipated remake of the 1981 cult-hit horror film, five twenty-something friends become holed up in a remote cabin. When they discover a Book of the Dead, they unwittingly summon up dormant demons living in the nearby woods, which possess the youngsters in succession until only one is left intact to fight for survival.

Running Time: 1 hr 30 min.
Release Date: April 12, 2013
MPAA Rating:NC-17, being recut for R
Starring: Jane Levy, Shiloh Fernandez, Jessica Lucas, Lou Taylor Pucci, Elizabeth Blackmore
Directed by: Fede Alvarez
Written by: Sam Raimi (1981 screenplay), Fede Alvarez (screenplay), Diablo Cody (screenplay), Rodo Sayagues (screenplay)

NC17!?....that is AWESOME! Being edited for an R rating is not. I don't want them to cut to much, it may ruin the vision already filmed. I hope they release a true unedited version for Bluray release.

The first Evil Dead was almost funny because it was excessively gorey. But this movie has people cutting up their own faces.

This isn't horror. This is insanity. Crazy people are going to watch it, and become even crazier.

The MPAA are a bunch of wanks who should have nothing to do with movie ratings. No accountability and secret. Not cool and they at MINIMUM should be open and transparent when it comes to their work.
