"While the TriStar and FilmDistrict remake doesn’t hit theaters until April 5, director Fede Alvarez revealed to a sold out SXSW crowd that he’s already begun writing a sequel to his Evil Dead." - bloody-disgusting.com

“In the much anticipated remake of the 1981 cult-hit horror film, five twenty-something friends become holed up in a remote cabin. When they discover a Book of the Dead, they unwittingly summon up dormant demons living in the nearby woods, which possess the youngsters in succession until only one is left intact to fight for survival.”

The Evil Dead will be directed by Fede Alvarez. The film stars Jane Levy (Suburgatory) as Mia; Shiloh Fernandez (Deadgirl, Red Riding Hood) as David; Lou Taylor Pucci (Carriers) as Eric; Jessica Lucas (Cloverfield) as Olivia and Elizabeth Blackmore (Legend of the Seeker) as Natalie. The film will be released on April 5, 2013.

sequel already? Is that decision making based on the crowd's response? If so, that's good. I'm still having not-having-Ash withdrawals.

"The most interesting thing about EVIL DEAD is how violent it is as a studio release. That's a post-WALKING DEAD effect"..

The only moment that made me want to puke in Walking Dead was when Rick cut Hershel's leg in order to prevent the virus spreading...i never had a problem with slash/stab/shoot/ing some undead, knowing that they won't feel a thing, but cutting a living old man's leg while he's conscious??..ugghh

I'll see it. But if it's successful we're never going to see Evil Dead 4.

I see this the way the new THE THING reboot movie did... came out and forgotten.

We need EVIL DEAD 4 Boomstick time! :p

Man, still wanted to see ol' Brucie up against FREDDY and JASON too, damn a movie that will never be : (

I hope its watchable but most reboots/remakes suck ass.

If it ain't broke, don't break it.

meh a remake of a film that has been remade already....*evildead2* Not feeling this version, Myabe I'm at the age where Ive seen everything possible that you can do with horror films and they have become more of a joke than a guilty pleasure. The first evildead is sooooo bad Its really bad, the second is much better but very cheese and army of darkness is literally a comedy .

In that last little screen-clip, is she vomiting in that girl's mouth, or eating her tongue?

People confuse gory with scary. Look at the first Halloween movie, god that was scary and intense. Original Evil Dead was gory, but also had much scaring elements. I bet this one is all about blood everyone, gory shit and people don't get actual scary moments, but instead this gory stuff and go all "woah I'm scared"

So, basically this movie is just gore-porn. Don't we have Saw for that?

@TheHeat, do not confuse things: u mean torture-porn, right? No, ED is a demonic possession movie. Did you watch the original?
