First Trailer For Let Me In

First Trailer For Let Me In

The trailer for Matt Reeve's remake of Let The Right One In starring Chloe Moretz (Kick-Ass) and Kodi Smit-McPhee (The Road) is here. Will fans of the original be getting their fangs out? Check it out...

Mmmm. The trailer starts off very similar to the original but by the end has an entirely different vibe indeed. It seems to be marketed as a bit more of an action/Horror movie than the original was. Not necessarily a bad thing. I'm gonna remain cautiously optimistic about this one. Fans should dig the Morse code bit at the end!

Let Me In is written and directed by Matt Reeves, who's feature directorial debut was J.J. Abrams' Cloverfield. This is a remake of Tomas Alfredson's 2008 film Let the Right One In, but more specifically a re-adaptation of the Swedish novel Låt den rätte komma by John Ajvide Lindqvist. Overture Films is bringing Let Me In to theaters October 1st. There is a prequel graphic novel in the works too.

Well, its nothing new really. The original was a foreign film so as far as Hollywood is concerned NOBODY in America could possibly have watched it. Subtitles doncha know?:) But in fairness this does look pretty good. I'v no problem with a different take on the novel, which was different to the Swedish movie anyway. See what happens. Great cast anyway.

I have seen the original and it was GOOD. I am sick of hollywood taking foreign films and remaking them and not giving the originals the proper credit they deserve(The Departed).

Look almost identical to the Swedish version. Worthless waste of time, the first was perfect. Hollywood is banking on the stupidity of Americans.

I cherish the original film and after seeing this trailer I'll give Matt Reeves the benefit of a doubt. If anyone didn't know, the original film based on the novel of the same name left a lot of things out from the book. This is a remake, it is likely they'll add in the elements that weren't brought up in the original onto this, especially since it has an R-rating. This trailer has me sold.

True, it could be a very different take, but there is one thing I bet they won't include from the book..I'm sure you know what that is!

@RorMachine
Thanks, but actually, I've only seen the original film. I've heard from the readers and critics that there was stuff removed from the film so it could focus mainly on the relationship. But ever since the film, I've always wanted to read the book. One of these days I really need to give that library a try, it's not even far from where I am. This deserves a lot more publicity than 'Twilight,' and that's because it actually has what the series is utterly lacking: Heart. :)

@Lobojon1
Likely it will be left off-screen or hinted at. Spoilers - Matt might've just gone with the route of the original film and Eli, or Abby, into a girl. Though it was also hinted at with her repeating that she wasn't a girl and that scar on her crotch. Twi-parents aren't going to pleased about the idea of a trans-relationship while bringing there teens along, LOL. They might.;)

@imnotwearinghockeypants & @SHO1138
There are scenes that look similar, but this could also be a strategy by Matt to hide some of the new things. The book had lots of things that were cut from the film. Matt even said himself that the entire book felt more like it could've been a 10-part miniseries rather than one film, a lot does go on. Maybe when we see more footage they could show us some new things or once we finally see the film.

Yeah thats the bit! haha. It is hinted at in the original movie, but I'm betting they won't even do that much this time around.

Yes, one of the best characteristics, but I'm just comparing the popularities of these books. "Twilight" is just a simple love story; just a shallow one at that. "Let the Right One In" or "Let Me In" is much more rich and complex. It journeys into themes and dark corners that Stephanie couldn't have fathomed. This story, I believe, deserves much more attention than 'Twilight' got handed.

Hollywood should start remaking bad films that had potential so that there is a higher chance that they'll be good. Trying to remake good films usually doesn't end well.

@AverageCitizen99 Eli is Edward and Bella all rolled up in one dysfunctional family kinda package. But all kidding aside Let the right one in was an amazing story I had no idea how good it was going to be and it just blew me away.

@Lobojon1
You make a fascinating point there. :)
The original was, and still is an amazing and just mesmerizing film. It is one of my favorite films of all time and I'm glad it had that affect on you.

@Keven
Matt said the film will still be set in the 80's, but Reaganism from the time will play a major part (I think) in the film from what he said in an interview from "Bloody-Disgusting.com." That mask was probably just a Nixon mask. The ending was very warming, it would take a skilled person to atleast deliver something of equal emotion to that scene. Something the original director succeeded at and more. :)

@Starsapphire
You're right, that is the same thing the director of the original film said exactly. There have been films with glimmering potential, only to be wasted on after its birth. We should see more 'bad-to-good' remakes rather than ones like this. But as I mentioned above, I'm okay with this one.
MarkCassidy
MarkCassidy - 7/1/2010, 7:20 AM
Kev, I think that must be a part from the book. Oscar gets bullied by his school mates so he wears a creepy mask and stabs things with a knife in the hope of some type of voodoo shit. So already we have more from the novel that wasn't in the original, good sign.
AverageCitizen99
AverageCitizen99 - 7/1/2010, 7:23 AM
@RorMachine
Wait, that was a pig mask? Good eye! I thought it was a Nixon mask though. You're right, a good sign already. ;)
MarkCassidy
MarkCassidy - 7/1/2010, 7:28 AM
Actually, looking at the trailer again it wasn't very piggish! haha. I can't remember if in the book the mask is a pig mask of just a mask..but I'm pretty sure thats what he's at in the trailer anyway. Stabbing stuff in the hope of hurting his school bullies. Nice!

Oh and Kev about the ending, it was great but I found it more sinister than beautiful myself.

I saw the original a few weeks ago and it's far and away one of the coolest takes on the vampire genre I've ever seen. I'm psyched about this one. Cloverfield rocked so I'm on board 100%.

Kidcruel, try watching it subtitled then! Nothing is ever dubbed well!

Kev, oh the swimming pol scene , I thought you meant the very last scene. I don't want to go too much into it cos of spoilers. But yeah, that was amazing. I'd say this Reeves guy will find it hard not to pay homage to that.
