“By day Gerri Dandridge is a sexy professor, but by night she transforms into a real-life vampire with an unquenchable thirst for human blood. So when a group of high school students travel abroad to study in Romania, they find themselves ensnared in Gerri’s chilling web of lust and terror. Charley and “Evil” Ed must stop Gerri from drinking and bathing in the blood of a “new moon virgin,” which just so happens to be Charley’s ex-girlfriend, Amy. They enlist help from Peter Vincent, the vampire hunting host of a reality show called “Fright Night,” to drive a stake through Gerri’s plan and save Amy from a fate far worse than death.“

Wow, incredibly disappointed by this. The original was a favourite film of mine growing up and the remake was, suprisingly, even better (well, except for evil ed, couldn't stand that mclovin guy). Was holding out hope for a proper sequel, something focusing on werewolves would've kept things fresh, perhaps. The remake had a great cast, cool special effects and made vampires cool and scary again. This is beyond embarrassing. Read that description of the 'plot'. Pathetic. Not even a sequel, sounds like a half-remake. Evil ed is alive? Died in the last movie. Enlist the help of fright night reality show peter vincent? WTF? They got his help in the first movie, he was a vegas stage show guy? 'Charley'?

Why are they rebooting this shit again with a straight-to-DVD sequel? Fright Night in 2011 was already good enough. This is a dumbass idea.

This shit should be cancelled for a real sequel to the 2011 film.

In the original, wasn't Gerry's sister named Regine?
What is the point of changing her name to Gerri!?!

It's a damn shame Fright Night (2011) didn't do very well, it was a great, entertaining movie that deserved to make A LOT more money than it did.

Because of idiots not going to see it, we're stuck with a crappy sequel and will never get the real sequel we deserve.

The 1985 version is a wonderful classic. And is still loved almost 30 years later.

The Ferrell version is just another movie. It's like this: 30 years from now no one will care about the 2011 version. It's 2013 and it's already forgotten.

The first film was decent but it had nothing on the original. I'm glad that they went with the whole modern take on it but it was a bit cheesy with some of the humor they added to the film.

The first and second film in the 80's series will always remain classics! :D

They totally freaked up the "Evil Ed" scene. Like seriously!

@CherryBomb The Original sequel wasn't made by Tom Holland. It was watchable but it really wasn't a sequel.

And it was the 1st Vampire film where Vampires didn't give a damn if they die. Most of them delivered puns when they died and even assisted in their own death.

It was a comedy.

The original FRIGHT NIGHT is a pure classic.
Easily one of the best movies to come out in the 80's.

Remakes will always occur & some are okay, some suck!

Well to be honest the sequel to the original Fright Night kind of sucked too so this isn't surprising. I thought the remake was actually pretty good and enjoyable too bad this crap has to happen to it.

@damntree Not surprisingly your rant did not create changes to reality.
The Original is still great. And the 2011 version is just another film.

You're kinda really worked up over a film that was very poorly cast and very average.

If you like Farrell that much go fap to his sex tape. But stop acting like having the ability to insult people means you know something about films.

Just don't over fap to Farrell's sex tape. I don't want people blaming me when they find you dead from over fapping to it.

"Hey, we got a great reboot, let's make a sequel? SURE, how do we proceed? Hmm, how about a new awful cast, with an absurd plot and bad acting? Also, it just has to be a spiritual sequel, nobody from the first movie needs to come back! PERFECT, lets make it."

The remake was utter rubbish, a true pointless exercise in film making and 100 minutes of my life I will never get back. The original was and is still one of the best of its kind.

The whole Peter Vincent mash-up of Vincent Price and Peter Cushing is lost and wasted in the remake and Colin Farrell has zero charisma as Dandridge unlike Chris Sarandon in the original. Lord knows why they cast a Russian to play an American teen but that didn't work either.

MarkCassidy - 8/17/2013, 12:25 PM
Yes, all the way through I kept thinking "man this Russian kid..who has lived in the US most of his life and has an American accent...is really taking me out of the movie"

The original Fright Night is and always will be the best one. It's definitely one of my favorite vampire movies of all time. The sequel to the original was terrible lol. A roller skating vampire haha, man that was hilarious. The only good thing about that movie was they brought back the original Charlie and Peter Vincent. The remake honestly wasn't very good. Too over the top for me. I did like however, Chris Sarandon, made a cameo in the movie. That was awesome. And now a direct to dvd crappy sequel to a not so good remake.

The original, "Fright Night", was one of my "watch it every day" movies when I was a kid, and it's sequel, also about Jerry's sister, was HOORRRIIIIBLE. It wasn't even, "awesomely bad", it just SUCKED.
The new Fright Night was GREAT. It had the perfect ratio of, "homage", to, "different territory".
This sequel looks just as terrible as its predecessor...

"By day Gerri Dandridge is a sexy professor, but by night she transforms into a real-life vampire with an unquenchable thirst for human blood."

LOL! How much did they pay someone to write that? That's terrible. I could come up with something better than that.

So the plot for this is pretty much the same as the sequel to the original movie without the returning actors? It's already that much worse, which is saying something.
