I know what your going to say: SHOCK!!!

Director Joe Dante confirmed that a new "Gremlins" movie was in the works and that it will be a remake of the original. MarketSaw has now chimed in to say the remake will also be 3D.

The deceison came after Dante's 'The Hole' was filmed succesfully in 3D and received good reviews.

With the recent success of 'AVATAR' you guys can bet your sisters flower that almost every successful 80's movie and any new proprty will include a version to be released in 3D. So if your tired of hearing the 3D news, too bad for you. Leave your issues with your tissues cuz 3D is hear to stay. Hey, if you dont like it? Blame James Cameron.

I liked the original 'Gremlins', who didnt? But leave the gimmicks out and please focus on a decent movie.

And so it begins...
Bloody James Cameron! lol I actually don't mind too much, I can just imagine the future though where we will look back on this time as the period of the reboots, honestly is nothing sacred (unless of course they do a really good job).

It would be better if they could just transform the original to 3D. Gremlins was great with all the 80's goofiness that went with it. A new one will either seem dated or too serious I think.

Hopefully someone will come up with a way to transform the original recordings to new 3D someday. That would be great!

Yeah I'm more upset that there remaking it than the fact that it will be in 3D. Hollywood has definately run out of ideas. And they probably said 3D was here to stay back in 1978 too......and guesse what.

Landsdown, probably not, but the genre is related. Besides, Jman is an Editor, and if the Editor's deem it worthy to be on CBM, that should be good enough for you.

Teabag, lmao, I hate Colin Ferrel.

Bokelaar, you just summed up the entirety of fanboyism in the most concise manner possible, lol.

Look at the bright side folks, there is a whole generation that missed out on a very important bit of information, life-or-death type of stuff, and that message is... are you ready... DON'T FEED THE MOGWAI!!!

@ Leee777

Really, how about a contiuation, this does not need a remake, it needs another sequal. A good one this time.

I'm not sure why Cameron is mentioned in this article. Avatar isn't the first movie to come out in 3-D over the last few years, it's just the most successful. Almost every animated movie that comes out now, is in 3-D.

The bigger issue as everyone has already commented is Hollywood's remake crutch. It would be one thing if they were taking a movie that was bad, or badly executed, and remaking it. But they're constantly taking HITS and trying to remake them. So irritating...

F-ing sweet!!!!!!!!! I love Gremlins truly one of the most kick ass movies I owned when growing up...

I loved both of the movies 1st and 2nd. I hope the new one will go with the little bit more darker side like the first movie did!!!!!

It's funny how the studios think:

Avatar + 3D = $$$

so..

Any movie + 3D = $$$

Dumbasses.

IT AIN'T BROKE!!!!!! WHY FIX IT
comicb00kguy
comicb00kguy - 1/26/2010, 5:00 PM
And just WHY does this need to be remade? Is it because of Hollywood's insane obsession with destroying everything from the 80's?

And you can say what you want, I'm sick and damn tired of 3D, and I will not be silent about it. It can work fine for some things, especially cheesy slasher films and maybe stuff set in outer space, but for most things, it's just a damn gimmick, and a gimmick that will increase the movie's cost. I don't care how much money Avatar makes, that doesn't mean everything else has to be just like it.
