The sequel to the 2013 sleeper hit Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters has found its director in Bruno Aveillan, an award-winning commercials director. Best known for his unique cinematic style and groundbreaking special effects, Aveillan has previously helmed short films for Audi, Cartier, Crystals, Louis Vuitton, Samsung, and Swarovski. This will be his feature film directorial debut. Tommy Wirkola, who directed the first installment, is back on as the screenwriter.

At this point, its still uncertain whether or not stars Jeremy Renner (Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation) & Gemma Arterton (Prince Of Persia: The Sands Of Time) will be back for the sequel, but in an earlier interview, producer Adam McKay (Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy) suggested that both stars would be back. The first film managed to gross over $226.3 million worldwide on a $50 million budget and developed cult classic status amongst horror/fantasy fans, especially overseas.
