INTERVIEW WITH THE VAMPIRE Season 2 Trailer Introduces Our New Claudia And The Théâtre Des Vampires

After she stole every scene in the first season of Interview With the Vampire, fans were disappointed to learn that Bailey Bass would not be reprising the role of Claudia for season 2, with Delainey Hayles stepping in to take over as the ruthless child vampire.

We're still no exactly sure why Bass decided not to return, but she did release the following statement back in March.

“Due to a variety of unforeseen circumstances, I’m unable to return to Anne Rice’s Interview With the Vampire for the second season. Playing Claudia has been a dream role and an incredible ride. I wish Delainey the best of luck in taking over. I cannot wait to watch.”

As for her replacement, Sam Reid (Lestat) was full of praise for his new co-star.

"Delainey is extraordinary. She is a beautiful actress, and I think what she's brought to Claudia is exceptional," Reid said during a recent interview with EW. "It's different and it's a change, but it's also, it's such a beloved character and I think Delainey really makes it her own. I can't wait for people to see her in this role."

AMC (via FearHQ.com) unveiled the first trailer for season 2 during its San Diego Comic-Con panel, giving us a glimpse of Hayles alongside returning stars Jacob Anderson (Louis) and Assad Zaman, whose character "Rashid" was revealed to be Armand in the season 1 finale.

Of course, Reid will also be back as Lestat, who was seemingly laid to rest for good by Lois and Claudia. However, Louis prevented Claudia from burning his lover's body, thereby giving him the opportunity to regenerate.

Check out the teaser below, and let us know what you think.

Interview With the Vampire hasn't been given an official return date, but season 2 is expected to premiere in 2024.

Studio: Let’s take a great movie and turn into a series!

Audiences: I didn’t know there was a season 1.

Nah. Only thing I liked about the first season was the actress playing Claudia. Lestat and Grey Worm weren’t particularly interesting, likeable or engaging. And the whole thing had a ‘teenager’s homoerotic fantasy’ vibe. Which I’m aware is kind of what some people like about the book and want out of the show, and I respect that. But it’s not really for me.

I really wanted to like it, but just way too much homo stuff. Just not for me. I doubt it gets a third season. Hard pass.

@NGFB -

Yeah. It completely double sucks.

Cap1

@NGFB - because the source material is ‘homo stuff’ (also known as gay, homosexual, anything a bit more tasteful). It seems you’re just homophobic

@Cap1 - Ok. Whatever.

@Cap1 - No, the source material was not like the show at all. There was no vampire gay love in it. There were older vampires looking for companionship with others they weren't bored by but it had nothing to do with sexual urges.

The movie was perfect and there's not really any way to do it any better, or for any actors to outshine the cast of it. This show could never have loved up to the movie.

But then, take into account the changes they made just so they could cast non-white actors and it already pissed off fans. I mean, Louis was a slave owner before he was turned into a vampire. But they wanted to cast a person of color so badly that they changed his backstory. Because a black slave owner in America wouldn't have worked. It's either that, or they didn't want the main character to have been a slave owner. Either way, things like that are really annoying.

@CorndogBurglar - Jacob Anderson is INFINITELY better as Louis than Brad Pitt.

@CorndogBurglar - All done to appeal to "modern audiences". 🙄

Yep. It is terrible.

@CorndogBurglar - But they have to change it for "Modern Audiences" which are of course are a limited number of people.

DEI plus no quality trash adaptation equals total garbage.

The end.

First season was fantastic, despite the abundance of homophobes in these comments. Real shame they’ve had to recast Claudia, she was excellent. Still, super jacked for more Lestat and Louis

@Cap1 - I don't know what people were expecting lol. The Vampire Chronicles were full of homo-eroticism. I would expect nothing less from a movie or TV show adapting the books. And I love the books. I still have all of them.

@CorndogBurglar - yeah lmao it’s like people complaining about The Boys for being too political/violent. That’s the point! I’ve only read Interview with The Vampire, such a great book. People here just can’t stand the idea of gay characters it seems. The Pitt/Cruise movie was good but so watered down, this series is waaay more faithful and generally much better

“Due to a variety of unforeseen circumstances, I’m unable to return to Anne Rice’s Interview With the Vampire for the second season".

Case in point, meet those "UNFORESEEN CIRCUSTANCES":

It's too bad. She was actually pretty good in S1, despite so many changes done to the source material.
