IT: CHAPTER TWO Taps BEAUTY AND THE BEAST Star Jay Ryan To Play Adult Ben Hanscom

Andy Muschietti's It: Chapter Two continues to fill out its ensemble cast and has now found its adult Ben Hanscom in former Beauty and the Beast star Jay Ryan. Production is expected to begin this summer.

Deadline is reporting that Jay Ryan (Beauty and the Beast) has joined the ever-growing cast of New Line's upcoming horror sequel, It: Chapter Two. He'll play the adult version of Ben Hanscom, taking over for Jeremy Ray Taylor, who played the part in the 2017 blockbuster.

Ryan is the latest addition to a cast that already features Jessica Chastain (X-Men: Dark Phoenix) as Beverly Marsh, James McAvoy (X-Men: Dark Phoenix) as Bill Denbrough, Bill Hader (Barry) as Richie Tozier, James Ransone (Mosaic) as Eddie Kaspbrak, and Andy Bean (Transformers: The Last Knight) as Stanley Uris. Bill Skarsgård will also return as Pennywise to continue wreaking havoc in the lives of the Losers Club.

Andy Muschietti is back in the director's chair with a script from Gary Dauberman. Production is expected to begin this summer with a September 6, 2019 release date already set.

What?! The casting for the other losers has been so amazing, how can they hire James McAvoy for Bill and this dingdong for Ben? It’s possible I’m thinking enotionally now because Ben was my favourite character. But cmon it can’t just be me, doesn’t this guy have a punchable douche face?

Isn’t Ben supposed to be the main man over Bill in Part Two?

@connorblaze - I mean...Ben becomes a cliche "good looking guy" in the book right, so him having a punchbale face works I guess haha.

@connorblaze - I mean, I can kind of see this guy as a grown version of Ben from the first movie. They've got similar enough faces. McAvoy as Bill doesn't make sense to me though. Honestly, I think Bill Skarsgard looks more like an adult Bill (and if they did that it would play up Pennywise's psychic powers and would make a fascinating, although not vague statement about what Bill is truly afraid of).

I JUST watched IT for the first time and i love it.

Love this moment when he comes out and the music at 3:30 is beautiful

@MUTO123 - Exactly the age range they are going for with the adult casting however I feel like it won't be him regardless of how great an actor he is.
