This year sees Godzilla's 60th birthday and whilst initial reactions to the monster-movie reboot have been positive, some Japanese fans aren't happy with the look of the monster.
After trailers and images went online in Japan, several fans of the Toho Studios creation have let their frustration be known on social media outlets.
"Whichever way you look at it, he's an American fatty" said one fan with another tweeting "He got fat in America on cola and pizza".
Other reactions included "He's couch potato Godzilla", "It's got no neck", "He Supersized" and "Marshmallow-Godzilla?".
At the ripe old age of 60 you might not think a little middle-aged spread is a terrible thing and it may seem a little funny coming from the country that gave the world sumo-wrestling, but the reaction wasn't all bad with one fan saying "It looks better than the last Hollywood Godzilla".
Well on that we should all be able to agree.
An epic rebirth to Toho's iconic Godzilla, this spectacular adventure, from Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Pictures, pits the world's most famous monster against malevolent creatures who, bolstered by humanity's scientific arrogance, threaten our very existence. Starring Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Elizabeth Olsen, Bryan Cranston, Ken Watanabe, Juliette Binoche, and David Strathairn and Bryan Cranston, Godzilla is directed by Gareth Edwards from a screenplay by Max Borenstein, Frank Darabont, and Dave Callaham, and its scheduled for release May 16, 2014.
