Director John Krasinski announced today, via
Twitter, that his highly anticipated horror sequel,
A Quiet Place: Part II,
has wrapped principal photography.
He shared the exciting news with a touching photo of himself walking with his real-life wife and the film's leading lady, Emily Blunt, on what appears to be the same bridge seen in the opening of the 2018 blockbuster.
In addition to Blunt, the film will see both Millicent Simmonds and Noah Jupe reprise their roles from the original film. Franchise newcomers include Cillian Murphy (
Batman Begins), who will play a man with mysterious intentions that joins the family unit, and Djimon Hounsou (
Captain Marvel), who's been cast in an equally mysterious role.
The first film grossed over $340 million on a modest $17 million production budget, which gave Paramount Pictures more than enough incentive to fast track a sequel with the same creative team.
In addition to directing the sequel, Krasinski also wrote the screenplay. Andrew Form, Brad Fuller, and Michael Bay will return as producers.
