Following a batch of promo stills, Apple TV+ has unveiled a creepy trailer for Lisey’s Story, a new limited series based on the best-selling novel by Stephen King.

Described as "a deeply personal, pensive thriller," Lisey's Story stars Julianne Moore as a woman still struggling to cope two years after the death of her husband, famous novelist Scott Landon (Clive Owen). A series of unsettling events causes Lisey to face memories of her marriage to Scott that she has deliberately blocked out of her mind.

Lisey's Story hails from J. J. Abrams’ Bad Robot Productions and Warner Bros. Television, with Pablo Larraín on directing duties. In a rare move, King actually wrote all eight episodes himself.

"I was attracted to it because of Stephen, and also because it was something that was so personal to him," Moore tells EW. "One of the things that's amazing about Stephen and his writing is that he's able to explore human relationships but in a fantastical way. [This story] was sort of investigating the idea of an adult, mature relationship and a long-term one — a marriage — and what it meant to them personally, the secrets that they shared."

Check out the trailer below.

Lisey's Story also stars Joan Allen, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Dane DeHaan, Ron Cephas Jones and Sung Kang, and is set to premiere globally on Friday, June 4 with the first two episodes, followed by new episodes every Friday.

Must admit, I really don’t like Julianne Moore as an actress but that looks intruiging. I’m in need of a good psychological thriller as I just got back from seeing Spiral and am really disappointed. They did well and it’s a good movie but I guessed the twist halfway through, and part of it from the trailers (the who is the bad guy part). Expected more from the plot, it was too obvious. That said, it is a big step in the right direction as the focus was on the story and not the torture. And the cinematography was solid. But man the plot was disappointing. Lot of build up for a really basic ‘twist’ and a story with no depth or layers you didnt expect. They came so close to something special, when that twist music comes in with the saw theme I got chills and thought here we go... then wverything I expected happened.

@connorblaze - I'm a huge Stephen King fan, but I've actually never read Lisey's Story. I may need to do that before watching this. Outside of comics I'm not usually a big "the book was better" kind of person, unless the movie is just entirely different than the book. But Stephen King movies have a tendancy of leaving out the best parts. Or the weirder stuff. So I'll definitely need to read this first.

And with Spiral, from the trailer alone Chris Rock looked horribly miscast. Its hard to take that face seriously. Was he really as bad as he looks in the trailer?

Everyone should read the book, it's a [frick]ing masterpiece.

This mini-series looks really promising.

Would love to see The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon as a film. I thought it did a wonderful job creating fear and anxiety by leaving so much unseen and implied. Some of the better stories can create that tension without relying on the graphic aspect.

A great book. I'm glad they are going the TV series route. There's so much to unpack that a 2hr+ movie wouldn't do it justice. Hopefully they use this time better than the people that made The Stand (2020).

We should all be lucky enough to age as gracefully as Julianne Moore.
