Michael Cera Campaigning to Play Oscar in Ghostbusters 3

Now that we have word from Harold "Egon" Ramis himself that that there will indeed be a Ghostbusters 3 in 2011, and that it will include the old Ghostbusters, as well as a younger cast of new Ghostbusters headed by a grown up Oscar (Dana's baby in Ghostbusters 2), uber-nerd Michael Cera wants in.

While there have been no official casting announcements for the next generation of Ghostbusters yet, Cera has reportedly been campaigning to play Oscar. The actor informed People magazine that during the filming of Year One, he constantly haranged director Ramis about the "Ghostbusters" franchise and potentially playing a part in the third movie.



(I loved) Ghostbusters! As a kid, I wanted to be Bill Murray's character. Harold told me lots of stories and I memorized every word.

Obviously this doesn't mean Cera is a shoe-in for a part in GB3, but it is indeed interesting "rumor" news, and you gotta admit that he's perfect for Oscar.

I actually really dont like Cera as an actor to be honest...he just annoys me, lol!

I could see him play The secratarys and the accounts kid(forgot theyre names) He could be a Ghostbuster/the Secratary.

Oh and I would like to see Jay Baruchal,Aziz Ansari,Cera,and some chick(Elisa Dushku?),and maybe Rogen for the newbies.

man, casting cera in this movie pretty much ensures that i wont see it. he's always the same. i really mean he's always the same. he was great in 'arrested' but TO ME the schtick is just old. TO ME its the same thing as tim burton doing alice in wonder land. i've seen burton's movies, i've seen 'alice' i can pretty much close my eyes and picture how that movie will be. same with Cera. i've seen his work, i've seen ghostbusters, my imagination can take it from there. im not saying it's going to be a bad movie. it could be good, great even! but i don't think i'll spend my money on a cera ghostbusters movie. it's like the 'Earnest' movies. earnest goes to camp, earnest goes to jail, africa, saves christmas. Michael Cera is a ghostbuster, michael cera tries to buy beer for the party, michael cera lives with a [frick]ed up family... you see where im going? happy new year UK guys! i've got like 8 hours in AZ

i think mike cera and jesse eisenberg would make a good team. add in a over the top tough guy or something like that, maybe even a hot chick to bring the comedy even harder and this movie would be awesome. ofcourse including the older cast aswell.

As much as I LOVE The Ghostbusters (movies & cartoons), I would not see this film if this talentless actor is in it. If any actor from Superbad and/or Rogen is in it, I'll swear of the franchise!

But the fact that he has already worked with Ramis, odds are Cera will be in it... NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Cera... I'm gonna say this because its 3:33 Am here and I've partied and am on my somethingth rum (or crown or Jack) and coke(mostly booze and 1/4 coke... I like coke and liquer so sue me...so I'm drunk and well caffeinated) ... I hate his whispery little candy ass routine: I just want to stomp his nuts until his voice actually becomes a normal audible tone and then just smack him around until he stops being such a little bitch in every role.

Allen Covert (grandma's boy and various adam sandler films)...im still thinking of more, but if they introduce anmore characters they need to be of a similar comical style to Bill murray, harold ramis and dan akroyd......no offence to all the girls out there but i really hope they dont cast a female ghostbuster!!

With all the old guys back and other new charcters,i don't see how his appearing in it would keep anybody from seeing Ghostbusters if it looked like it was going to be good. The kid always palys the same charcter, but so do a lot of people and if the story is good like the first, it won's matter

He can be funny every now and then but a Ghostbuster he is not. Given the character's history, I think it's safe to assume that Oscar would be sort of the new lead Ghostbuster and this dude is definitely not right for that. Personally, I'd love to see Simon Pegg as a Ghostbuster and I totally agree with InSpace on Jay Baruchel. He was great in Tropic Thunder. Throw in John Cho and I think we'd have a great younger generation cast. As far as a girl Ghostbuster, I nominate Kristen Bell. She's perfect for this.

I'm with Kerosene here. I don't think this is the right fit for Cera, but I WOULD like to see Seth Green involved. He's pretty funny. I'm also partial to seeing Jack Black involved. Give him a good script (but NOT any kind of control over it), and he can be pretty funny also.

Id like to see Phillip seymour-hoffman as a character in the new ghostbusters...if youve seen along came polly you'll know what i mean...my fave scene when he slips on the dance floor...or when he tells ben stiller hes just "sharted"...classic!!
