We recently found out that Sony's Constantin Films had moved Monster Hunter up from April 2021 to December 2020, and the first trailer and a new poster for Paul W.S. Anderson's latest video game adaptation are now online.

Milla Jovovich stars as Captain Artemis (a character created for the movie), who leads her team of Army Rangers to a location known as Wildspire Waste in an effort to rescue their colleagues from, you guessed it, monsters. There, they encounter Thai martial arts legend Tony Jaa as The Hunter of the title.

The trailer teases some action-packed sequences involving the Rangers going up against several different creatures, including a fearsome Black Diablos. Then, right at the end we see Artemis charging into the path of at a gigantic dragon.

"Behind our world, there is another: a world of dangerous and powerful monsters that rule their domain with deadly ferocity. When Lt. Artemis (Milla Jovovich) and her loyal soldiers are transported from our world to the new world, the unflappable lieutenant receives the shock of her life. In her desperate battle for survival against enormous enemies with incredible powers and unstoppable, revolting attacks, Artemis will team up with a mysterious man who has found a way to fight back."

Monster Hunter also stars Meagan Good, T.I., Diego Boneta, and Ron Perlman. Do you guys plan on checking this one out?

This feels like a movie from 2012. I already feel like I've seen it before and seen it more than once.

I bet the writers thought they had something good with that Guardians of the Galaxy joke.

Why is it so hard to make a video game movie...

@Urubrodi - Especially this one that has such a sime premise. Humans discover a new landmass. Humans decide to populate it. Humans discover monsters on the landmass and have to hunt them to be able to expand civilation. Humans discover an ancient monster more powerful than all the others that they have to kill.

Its not hard.

@Urubrodi - Because a big part of video games is the fact that they are interactive...

@HeeroG - So, does that mean the MCU exists as entertainment in the "real" Monster Hunter Cinematic Universe?

I don't know the game, so I guess I can't be pissed at inaccuracies.

I've seen worse movies this year, I'm pretty sure. Hell, probably in the last week. I'll give it a whirl.
