The Mummy 4 Set Photos Finally Reunite Brendan Fraser And Rachel Weisz

The Mummy 4 will mark the first time Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz have shared the screen since 2001's The Mummy Returns, but new set photos finally reunite Rick O'Connell and Evelyn Carnahan.

As we first reported on SFFGazette.com, new The Mummy 4 set photos have been revealed, offering fans a first look at Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz's long-awaited reunion as Rick O'Connell and Evelyn Carnahan.

They haven't shared the screen as these characters for just shy of 25 years, making this a fairly momentous occasion for fans of The Mummy franchise. Are they married? Divorced? While that remains to be seen, Rick and Evelyn certainly look pretty cosy here.

Seeing these two together again is one of the biggest draws of this sequel, and at the very least, we'd bet on there being romance between these two by the time the credits roll.

What we can say for sure is that, despite speculation to the contrary, Obsession star Michael Johnston is not playing their son. During a recent interview with Attitude, he said, "It’s a new character, but the film is just returning to its original formula. It’s just like that first film. It’s going to give the fans exactly what they want. Rick and Evie are back."

"We’re going on an adventure again. It’s so exciting. The film rips. It just goes immediately. It’s truly an action film. It’s fight scenes and chase scenes and running through the streets," the actor continued. "I’m working with stunt guys and I’m like, 'Wait, you’re gonna let me do this?' It’s going to be honest to the original film."

The Mummy franchise first launched in 1999. It introduced moviegoers to Fraser's Rick O'Connell and Weisz's Evelyn Carnahan, and following their clash with the resurrected Imhotep, the duo returned in 2001's The Mummy Returns, which introduced Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson's Scorpion King.

In 2002, that character was front and centre in his own ill-fated spin-off, before the franchise rose from the dead in 2008 with The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor. That didn't receive the warmest response, and is no longer being treated as canon (meaning it will be ignored when this fourth chapter arrives).

Starring Brendan Fraser, Rachel Weisz, John Hannah, Arnold Vosloo, Oded Fehr, Kevin J. O'Connor, Michael Johnston, and Numan Acar, The Mummy 4 is directed by Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, aka Radio Silence.

David Coggeshall (The Family Plan, Orphan: First Kill) wrote the screenplay for this next instalment of the franchise, with Sean Daniel returning as a producer. William Sherak, James Vanderbilt and Paul Neinstein will produce through Project X Entertainment, and they're frequent collaborators with the movie's directors, Radio Silence.

The Mummy 4 arrives in theaters on May 19, 2028.

They both look great imo!!.

Also I for sure thought that Michael Johnston would be playing a recast Alex but I guess not so I’m intrigued by his character…

I wonder if he’s a young archaeologist that accidentally unleashes a new mummified threat (possibly played by Numan Acar) and asks Rick & Evie for help?.

Also Johnston saying it’s more akin to the first film makes me happy since that’s the best & only good film out of the previous 3!!.
