With the Halloween season nearly upon us, Paramount Pictures and Spyglass Media Group have finally shared the first official teaser poster for Scream, the upcoming fifth installment in the storied horror franchise that stars Neve Campbel in the lead role as iconic scream queen Sidney Prescott.

The poster arrives just hours ahead of this evening's Scream 25th Anniversary screenings, seemingly confirming that attendees will likely be the first people across the globe to see the trailer before its expected debut online on Tuesday.

In addition to Neve Campbell reprising her role as Sidney Prescott, her longtime franchise co-stars Courteney Cox and David Arquette are also set to return as Gale and Dewey Riley, respectively. Marley Shelton has also been confirmed to return as Deputy Judy Hicks from the last installment, while Roger L. Jackson will once again voice Ghostface.

Newcomers to the franchise include Melissa Barrera (Vida; Dos Veces Tú), Jenna Ortega (Jane the Virgin; Iron Man 3), Jack Quaid (The BoysThe Hunger Games), Dylan Minnette (Prisoners13 Reasons Why), Mason Gooding (BooksmartLove, Victor), Mikey Madison (Once Upon a Time... In HollywoodBetter Things), Jasmin Savoy Brown (The LeftoversFor The People), Kyle Gallner (Smallville; American Sniper), and newcomer Sonia Ammar.

Radio Silence duo Matthew Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett (Ready or Not) directed the fifthquel with a screenplay from James Vanderbilt (Zodiac; The Amazing Spider-Man) and Guy Busick (Ready or Not; Castle Rock). While franchise creator Kevin Williamson was not involved with the screenplay, he will still serve as an executive producer.

Scream scares its way into theaters on January 14, 2022.

I wanna see Sydney snap and become the killer. That many times being chased by a killer would mess with someone’s mentality.

@AnthonyVonGeek -

I dont get the obsession of wanting Sydney to be the killer. We never wanted our scream queens turn into the killer before why now?🤔

@AmazingFILMporg - how many of them return for sequels? Never mind ALL the sequels. At some point having the same women run away from the same costume needs a new spin on it

Laurie strode has been in 6 Halloween films now.

@AmazingFILMporg - yeah, but there’s like 100 Halloween films, and of the 6 she’s I know half of them are redos that ignore the others. All the screams star Sydney

@santoanderson - I think that used to be a sign of a film being dumped but it’s changed in recent years IMO

Scream 4 had a great killer reveal and motivation but the directing seemed CW level👀

It was the same directing Wes Craven did for the others 🤔 I don’t get it.
It’s campy, it’s supposed to be lol

But yeah the killer was awesome , fist time I watched it, I was 16 and didn’t see it coming.

I don’t get Hollywood’s obsession of naming horror sequels with the same title as the first movie. They couldn’t have come up with a subtitle or variant?

I don’t get it.

If you look at every scream film the killer had some social commentary🤔

Whether its kids being influenced by films and driving them to kill or social media addiction driving them to kill go fame.

I wonder if Gale weathers might be the killer? Could be a social commentary on the media🤔👀
