Second LEATHERFACE Poster Hints At A Child's Murderous Future

The latest installment in the TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE franchise, a prequel set in the early days of the fictional killer known as 'Leatherface', is set for a release sometime in 2016. The second poster for the film teases a horrific future for a certain iconic character.

The next film in the famed Texas Chainsaw franchise will be a prequel titled Leatherface, named for the main antagonist of the franchise. Unlike Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning, a prequel to the franchise's 2003 reboot that centred on the origins of the Leatherface's family as a whole, this film is a prequel to the original 1974 film that primarily focuses on the beginnings of Leatherface himself. The film is set to be released sometime in 2016 and, while we have yet to see a trailer to to the film, we can admire the artwork of the newly released poster for the film.

A young nurse is kidnapped by four violent teens who escape from a mental hospital and take her on a road trip from hell. Pursued by an equally deranged lawman out for revenge, one of these teens is destined for tragedy and horrors that will destroy his mind; molding him into the monster we now call LEATHERFACE…

Starring Sam Strike, Sam Coleman, James Bloor, Jessica Madsen, Angela Bettis, Stephen Dorff, Lili Taylor and Vanessa Grasse.

Well, I agree with you to an extent. Part of the new film's plot is that there will be a lawman who wants revenge on Leatherface. That's EXACTLY what the previous film was about (if you remember, it was released in 2013 in 3D).

But as far as the origin goes, this is completely new. "Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning" was a prequel to the 2003 reboot that told the origin of the killer family but barely focused on Leatherface. The upcoming film will primarily focus on Leatherface himself, and is a prequel to the original. The origin will be entirely different than "TCM: The Beginning".

But what I want to know is this: why does Leatherface even need an origin story? This whole film is kind of a gimmick.

This site has been known to cover other genres of film that don't pertain to comic books, including horror. Back in 2012 and 2013, multiple editors covered "Texas Chainsaw 3D". This is nothing new.

And "Fast & Furious", Disney films like "Frozen", "Harry Potter", "James Bond", "The man From Uncle" and about a thousand other films covered on this site have nothing to do with comic books. Years back, there was even a poll on this site asking what non-comic book genres people are interested in and one of the options that people picked was horror.

As for this film in particular, it has been covered on this site since it was announced in 2014 (though there hasn't been much news so far, as it hasn't finished production). Even Mark Cassidy did an article on the casting of this film.

Also, it's not this is some obscure horror film with a very specific and small demographic. "Texas Chainsaw" is a popular horror franchise. If someone did an article on something a little more underground, like "The Human Centipede", the article would certainly be deleted.

This franchise has been rebooted so many times.

Only one good film in this shitty series which is the first film just like the Friday The 13th series and Halloween series.

Horror needs to stop making shitty sequels/reboots.

That's different. The comic books were based on the films, the films were not based on the comics. Therefore, TCM is not a comic book film.

@FrozenMarvelite

There have been a number of "Texas Chainsaw Massacre" comics published. The film, "Leatherface: The Texas Chainsaw Massacre III" was adapted into a comic mini-series. DC Comics also published an ongoing TCM comic series, as did Avatar Press.

There was even a "Jason vs. Leatherface" comic.

My point being it was a comic book before or after the fact it was still a comic book

"TCM: The Beginning" was a prequel to the 2003 reboot that has nothing to do with this film.

This film is a prequel to the 1974 original that will be an entirely different origin for Leatherface.

I love horror movies and of course i like Slasher Films, The Chainsaw Massacre Franchise only have (to me) two good movies:

-The original and first film.

-The 2003 Reboot of the original film, who make a better development of characters and plot.

So for me that are the best, in Friday The 13th, the best films are the 3 first because is the development of Jason Voorhees.

And for Halloowen the 2 first movies, because they are writen like a 2 part movie.
