Showblitz/Variety is reporting that Shawn Levy - best known for directing the upcoming Real Steel and the Night At The Museum films - has officially signed on to direct 20th Century Fox's untitled Frankenstein film, placing the company ahead of competing studios in getting a Frankenstein film in development. Max Landis has been penning a script treatment for the film, based on the classic Mary Shelly novel.
Shawn Levy is signed on direct the Frankenstein pic coming together at Fox, a significant step forward for the studio now in a race with at least a half-dozen other projects based on the classic monster tale.
Showblitz goes on to say that Fox also looked at David Yates (
Harry Potter) and Paul Greengrass (
The Bourne Ultimatum) to fill the director's chair on the project, but Levy emerged as the favorite.
What do you think of this director's choice? Do you think Levy's a fine choice to bring the monster of Dr. Frankenstein back to life, or is there someone else who you think would be better suited? Be sure to sound off your thoughts below in the usual place.
