One of the lesser-known graphic novels of our time, the Baseball horror comic Sullivan's Sluggers has reportedly sparked interest in many producers with its Zombieland-type story. Originally sold as a fundraising project from creators Mark Andrew Smith and James Stokoe, it has been even more successful than planned obviously, and is now set to be adapted to the big screen. As stated previously, producers Todd Garner, Adam Herz and Joshua Shader were so impressed with the project, that they are now working to make it a feature film. Tom and Tim Mullen have been hired to pen the script for the upcoming adaptation. Here is the synopsis and cover for Image Comics' Sullivan's Sluggers:
Long past their former glory, the minor league Sluggers get an invitation to play a baseball game in a cursed small town. After the 7th inning stretch, the sun goes down, and the dysfunctional teammates find themselves fighting for their lives against a town of flesh-eating monsters! Now, it's up to coach Casey Sullivan to help his team escape from being the next dish in the town's terrifying feeding frenzy! Eisner & Harvey Award-winning graphic novel author Mark Andrew Smith joins forces with Eisner nominated illustrator James Stokoe for a gripping roller coaster of a graphic novel, packed with shocks, gore, and screamingly outrageous humor, when America's Favorite Past Time becomes one team's ultimate nightmare!
