TAYLOR SWIFT: THE ERAS TOUR Forces THE EXORCIST To Back Down; Tops SPIDER-MAN: NO WAY HOME's Presale Record

The Exorcist: Believer has been forced to shift release dates following the news Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour will arrive in U.S. theaters this October, with the concert film outperforming even the MCU.

When Taylor Swift announced plans to release Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour in U.S. theaters on October 13, theater chains immediately started struggling with the demand. The singer has already broken records with her stadium tour and is now gearing up to do the same at the domestic box office.

It should come as no surprise then that Blumhouse's The Exorcist: Believer has backed down from an army of Swifties, shifting to October 6 shortly after the news broke this concert film was doing huge business in terms of ticket presales.

In fact, all signs point to Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour breaking box office records, with Killers of the Flower Moon and Five Nights at Freddy's both set to lose business courtesy of the beloved singer-songwriter.

With Dune: Part Two recently moving from November to next March, some pundits even believe this must-see concert film, shot at L.A.'s SoFi Stadium in August, will dominate the start of that month until The Marvels comes along.

According to Variety (via FearHQ.com), Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour scored a massive $26 million in presales yesterday. This actually tops the single-day sales record set by Spider-Man: No Way Home's $16.9 million in 2021, confirming Swift is a bigger draw than even Marvel's most iconic superhero.

As for why The Exorcist: Believer backed down from Swift, it likely has something to do with AMC confirming it will limit the showtimes for other movies in order to make room for the concert.

Exactly 50 years ago this fall, one of the most terrifying horror films in history landed on screens, shocking audiences around the world. From Blumhouse and director David Gordon Green, who shattered the status quo with their resurrection of the Halloween franchise, comes The Exorcist: Believer.

Since the death of his pregnant wife in a Haitian earthquake 12 years ago, Victor Fielding has raised their daughter, Angela on his own.

But when Angela and her friend Katherine, disappear in the woods, only to return three days later with no memory of what happened to them, it unleashes a chain of events that will force Victor to confront the nadir of evil and, in his terror and desperation, seek out the only person alive who has witnessed anything like it before: Chris MacNeil.

Did The Exorcist: Believer make the right decision by allowing itself to be vanquished by Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour? Jason Blum seems to think so...

Even though this story is mainly about The Exorcist I do like how something on here that has to do Taylor Swift is labeled “Horror” cause her music kills my ears.

T Swift is over-rated, she would have been a one hit wonder on the 80's or 90's. When the field is this slim, it's no surprise she sells tickets lol. Also this Exorcist doesn't deserve to see the light of day. Do everyone a favor and go see the 50th anniversary re release three week before this! Don't let them make the shitty movies! This hack ruined Halloween! Lol now they can use t swift as "an excuse" when it bombs. It deserves shit, horror fans are so simplistic so this ass of a time will still turn a profit.. sad

@bobevanz - Hey, I liked what he did with Halloween. Especially Kills and Ends! Ends is probably my favorite Halloween movie after the original, and one of my favorite slasher sequels ever.

Super interested in seeing his take on the Exorcist, even if I think there should have never been any sequels at all. I guess we'll see how it goes.

@bobevanz - this movie transcends generational divides because its is such a masterpiece and cuts to something psychologically that rattles A LOT of people. I would actually put it #2 after Carpenter’s Halloween,’ however. Scarier….yes, but ‘Halloween’ represents an actual bellwether moment in movie history for what it ushered in

@SauronthePower - There are dozens of us. Dozens!

But in all seriousness, I don't get the DGG hate. Like at all. I think his Halloween movies will age really well, and they'll likely be considered horror classics in 10+ years, when everyone gets over whatever it is that makes them see red with those movies. Mark my words.

@bobevanz - her last album is definitely overrated, but I think her older music is more deserving of the attention it gets. Now Beyonce, that's an overrated artist in my opinion
