As promised, Netflix has debuted a new trailer for the upcoming Texas Chainsaw Massacre revival, giving us gruesome look at the return of everyone's favorite power-tool wielding maniac with a penchant for fashioning masks from his victims' faces.
Although this movie will serve as a direct sequel to Tobe Hooper's '70s classic, it seems to be treading over very similar ground, as a new group of teens make their way to a seemingly abandoned town only to discover that Leatherface is still very much alive and active. TCM 2022 also takes a page out of Halloween 2018's playbook by having sole survivor Sally Hardesty (this time played by Olwen Fouéré) return to seek revenge on her deranged tormentor decades later.
It looks like a bit of gory fun, although we're not sure about that "try anything and get cancelled, bro" scene at the end! Check out the new trailer below and let us know what you think.
“Melody (Sarah Yarkin), her teenage sister Lila (Elsie Fisher), and their friends Dante (Jacob Latimore) and Ruth (Nell Hudson), head to the remote town of Harlow, Texas to start an idealistic new business venture. But their dream soon turns into a waking nightmare when they accidentally disrupt the home of Leatherface, the deranged serial killer whose blood-soaked legacy continues to haunt the area’s residents — including Sally Hardesty (Olwen Fouéré), the sole survivor of his infamous 1973 massacre who’s hell-bent on seeking revenge.”
David Blue Garcia (Tejano) directs from a script by Chris Thomas Devlin. Fede Alvarez is on board as producer.
Texas Chainsaw Massacre is set to hit Netflix on February 18.
