What do you think? It's certainly no I, Frankenstein, but it does seem to be taking something of a light-hearted approach to the notoriously dark source material, and that first trailer - at least - paints a picture of more of an adventure flick than a horror movie. The UK version is a bit more tonally consistent at least. Victor Frankenstein also stars Mark Gatiss, Jessica Brown Findlay and Andrew Scott, and is is set for release on October 2, 2015.

This looks weird. A film, based on Mary Shelley's Frankenstein with comedy in it? Give me a break. No idea why McAvoy and Scott decided to do this. And Radcliffe looks ridiculous with that long hair!

I think every single one of James McAvoy's lines in this trailer was a sarcastic joke of some sort.

the latest adaptation of Mary Shelley's classic novel

But Igor wasn't in the novel...

I should know. It's the only book I ever gave a shit about reading senior year of High School and I loved the book.

I get the feeling this will go the same way of I, Frankenstein and Van Helsing. It looks like some dumb CGI fun that critics will hate.

I love both these actors but this trailer isn't making the film look good. And maybe because I love the Victor Frankenstein in Penny Dreadful so much, I can't see this being really good.

I don't think he's especially talented, but I'd love to have Max Landis' career. Too bad my dad wasn't at one point the most in-demand director in Hollywood. I sounded very petty and jealous just now.

Wait, this is Fox! Is this not part of the new Universal Monsters Cinematic Universe? So we're still due another Frankenstein picture at some point, in the near future?

What a strangely edited trailer. In some places, it feels like a smaller horror film. In others it feels like Guy Ritchie's Sherlock Holmes or Stephen Sommers' Van Helsing. But then they clearly riff on Mel Brooks, too. WTF is this movie?!

As for the Ritchie Holmes Movies comparisons, I love those two and wait for a third.

Suprised that one one has snapped up Radcliffe for a COmic Book Movie.
