In a press release today, MGM will be partnering with Fox 2000 to produce a remake of the 80's cult classic, POLTERGEIST, which will be distributed by Twentieth Century Fox. MONSTER HOUSE director Gil Kenan will be helming the film with David Lindsay-Abaire (OZ: THE GREAT AND POWERFUL)on board to write and Sam Raimi as producer.
Children of the 80's will recall POLTERGEIST helped to cement the idea that one does not build your home on burial grounds, Indian or otherwise. The film tells the story of a suburban family who buy a home only to be plagued by malevolent forces. The original film, produced and written by Steven Spielberg, was said to have strange occurrences on set and 4 actors of the films died between movies 1 - 3 giving rise to the myth of the Poltergeist Curse.
