Tim Burton Is Close To Directing 'The Hunchback of Notre Dame'.

It looks like one of Tim Burton's newest projects will be 'The Hunchback of Notre Dame', with Josh Brolin set to produce and star in the film.

Well folks, it's finally happening, Tim Burton is actually making a new movie and hasn't cast Johnny Depp in it (Yet).
Burton is currently in the beginning stages of developing the film and apparently the film is in it's very early stages while Burton waits for a script before anything becomes too official. This kind of movie seems right up his alley so I wont be surprised when this news becomes official.

WB has hired Michelle and Kieran Mulroney to write the script. You may recognize their names as the writers who recently wrote 'Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows'.

"Set in medieval Paris, Victor Hugo’s powerful historical romance The Hunchback of Notre-Dame has resonated with succeeding generations ever since its publication in 1837. It tells the story of the beautiful gypsy Esmeralda, condemned as a witch by the tormented archdeacon Claude Frollo, who lusts after her. Quasimodo, the deformed bell ringer of Notre-Dame Cathedral, having fallen in love with the kindhearted Esmeralda, tries to save her by hiding her in the cathedral’s tower. When a crowd of Parisian peasants, misunderstanding Quasimodo’s motives, attacks the church in an attempt to liberate her, the story ends in tragedy"

I've always found the story of the Hunchback rather interesting, and as I said, I think this story in Burton's comfort zone and I'll be extremely interested to see what he can do with it.
