When a mother and daughter are found brutally murdered in 19th century Baltimore, Detective Emmett Fields (Luke Evans) makes a startling discovery: the crime resembles a fictional murder described in gory detail in the local newspaper—part of a collection of stories penned by struggling writer and social pariah Edgar Allan Poe (John Cusack). But even as Poe is questioned by police, another grisly murder occurs, also inspired by a popular Poe story.

Realizing a serial killer is on the loose using Poe’s writings as the backdrop for his bloody rampage, Fields enlists the author’s help in stopping the attacks. But when it appears someone close to Poe may become the murderer’s next victim, the stakes become even higher and the inventor of the detective story calls on his own powers of deduction to try to solve the case before it’s too late.

The Raven hits theaters March 9th, 2012!

Is this a comicbook or sci-fi movie, I'm just confused why its is being posted here? It doesn't come off as relevant to the site. But i don't know, does this have some graphic novel it is based off or something?

For those wondering whether or not The Raven can be covered on CBM... http://www.comicbookmovie.com/fansites/Wolvie09/news/?a=44959 Apparently, it is a sci-fi related film.

@bleedthefreak
don't whine about that kind of thing dude. CBMs dominate this site, but every once in a while, some movies come along that look good enough that they get reported on. Nobody whined when Inception was being reported on (somebody probably did, but I wasn't paying attention). So don't whine now. CBM is a very diverse site.

@the17thrunaway Inception had some sort of prequel comic, so that justified it's being covered on here.

@the17thrunaway sorry I followed my rule as an editor, why don't I just leave every article non cbm related up, that way we can render the whole comicbookmovie.com thing pointless. Other movies, have been dominating the site in a pointless flow. People come here for comicbook movie news, not every movie ever to come out under the sun AND Comic book movies, no it is simply comic book movies with a few exceptions.

These exceptions are not supposed to be in this large a number like they have been lately. If I truly wanted to I could delete this myself because it really has very little to do with the site (if anything), but PaulRom has stated his case to me earlier so I dropped it. Next time you want to call some doing what they have been hired to do a whiner, make sure you look less like a jackass doing so.

@bleedthefreak i think this movie is covered on this site because of the "horror" aspect of edgar allen poe. and as we all look at the home page of the site, there is a "horror" section...

@mothman

are u silly The Goon has been mention last week on the site.

this movie can be mention on this site cause The Raven story has been used in comics.

if u complain about this then u also need to complain about RDJ Sherlock Holmes been mention on CBM. heres something Sherlock Holmes has been also used in comics aswell just like Edgar Allan Poe story.
