When Sony officially greenlit a Zombieland sequel, it was originally set for an October 2019 release date. Now that Sony has announced its slate of upcoming movies and there release dates, we now have a specific date for when the highly anticipated sequel will hit theaters. Barring any delays, Zombieland 2 will release on October 11, 2019.

The core cast and production crew will return for the sequel, including the entire principal cast of Woody Harrelson (Tallahassee), Jesse Eisenberg (Columbus), Emma Stone (Wichita), and Abigail Breslin (Little Rock). Ruben Fleischer, who recently completed Venom, will return to the director's chair with a script from original Zombieland writers Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese. Production is slated to begin in January 2019.

Zombieland 2 will follow the makeshift family to the White House and through the American heartland as they continue to survive the zombie apocalypse in which the creatures have evolved since the first movie.

As for the rest of Sony's lineup of films, here are the new dates:
  • Slender Man: August 10, 2018 (from 8/24)
  • Searching: August 24, 2018 (limited, from 8/3; expands 8/31)
  • White Boy Rick: September 14, 2018 (wide instead of limited)
  • Once Upon a Time…In Hollywood: July 26, 2019 (from 8/9/19)
  • Zombieland 2: October 11, 2019
  • Little Women: December 25, 2019
  • Bloodshot: February 21, 2020
As production on Zombieland 2 nears, we'll hopefully learn more about the eagerly awaited sequel.

Nice, I'm actually really surprised they got all of the original cast to return. This is one of the better zombie films, for sure.

I wonder if ol' Bill will have another cameo?
