According to THR, Iron Man 2 is off to a good start in Europe, opening more than a week in advance of its U.S. debut to give it more screen time before the World Cup begins in South Africa.

The Robert Downey Jr. starrer also unspooled in Sweden, Norway, Belgium, the Netherlands and French-speaking Switzerland, with additional territories to bow the pic into the weekend.

Paramount didn't break down first-day territorial grosses but said the opening in France was 11% ahead of the comparable opening figure of 2008's

There was about 20 people in the cinema when I saw it at 11am this morning...however, it was the first showing and a weekday so I'm not that surprised! This is great news though!

ngu13: (SPOILERS AHEAD: Highlight To Read!) Mjolnir did indeed look stunning on the big screen! I was so glad to see that they went with the classic design - the shape, handle and even strap were all identical to the comic book as far as I could see. Cant wait to see the costume!

Just seen it in the UK. It will not disappoint. A few quibbles - pacing a bit off at times, RDJ/Pepper scenes a bit over-laboured (although still enjoyable), final battle a bit deflating (though penultimate battle fantastic!), but majorly awesome most of the time. Scarj supremely awesome in her action scene. Reveal sends chills down the spine, mainly because ****SPOILER******

Mjolnir is the classic Kirby Mjolnir, only a bit shinier, and not some crappy re-invention - so it seems like a promise from Marvel to its fans, to stay reasonable true to the comics, only a bit shinier. Which is pretty much what we want.

You do relize that they are doing most of their movies off their Ultimate series right? So, Nick Fury is black, Spiderman has some balls, and Wolverine actually dies.
