In continuation with earlier coverage of Empire Magazine's exclusive chat with Marvel Studios President, Kevin Feige has dished out even more details for next year's Iron Man 3 actioner.
Considering this is director Shane Black's sixth film that has taken place during the Holiday season, and last month's trailer confirmed that Iron Man 3 will be no exception, one would dub the film a Christmas movie. However, Feige says otherwise: “I wouldn't call it a Christmas movie,” he said.
In regards to the new mostly golden armor that debuted at San Diego Comic-Con and featured prominently throughout the teaser trailer, rumors suggested that the armor will be Tony Stark's Mk XLVII (47). However, Feige says, “Logic would dictate that it would be the Mark VIII, but we've already talked about taking risks, so logic may not apply!!” he laughs.
Early casting details for the threequel first revealed that Iron Man 3 would be loosely based on Warren Ellis' Extremis story arc. And for those who've read the arc and assume they know most of what'll happen in the film, Feige says, “Comic fans are at an advantage and a disadvantage. They know the source material inside and out and believe they can connect clues that lead back to that. And they're at a disadvantage because don't always connect those clues correctly!”
Marvel Studios’ “Iron Man 3” pits brash-but-brilliant industrialist Tony Stark/Iron Man against an enemy whose reach knows no bounds. With his back against the wall, Stark is left to survive by his own devices, relying on his ingenuity and instincts to protect those closest to him. As he fights his way back, Stark discovers the answer to the question that has secretly haunted him: does the man make the suit or does the suit make the man?
