The Hollywood Reporter has come across another photo from the Beijing set of Marvel's much-anticipated Iron Man 3 actioner. Showing Chinese actor Wang Xueqi in character as Dr Wu standing alongside Iron Man himself, again with an armor featured in previous films, the photo's apparent caption “explains how Wang’s character was explaining about Beijing life to Iron Man who have just descended to Yongdingmen.” Other photos seemingly show tracking shots in the making.

Marvel Studios’ “Iron Man 3” pits brash-but-brilliant industrialist Tony Stark/Iron Man against an enemy whose reach knows no bounds. When Stark finds his personal world destroyed at his enemy’s hands, he embarks on a harrowing quest to find those responsible. This journey, at every turn, will test his mettle. With his back against the wall, Stark is left to survive by his own devices, relying on his ingenuity and instincts to protect those closest to him. As he fights his way back, Stark discovers the answer to the question that has secretly haunted him: does the man make the suit or does the suit make the man? Starring Robert Downey Jr., Gwyneth Paltrow, Don Cheadle, Guy Pearce, Rebecca Hall, Stephanie Szostak, James Badge Dale with Jon Favreau and Ben Kingsley, “Iron Man 3” is directed by Shane Black from a screenplay by Drew Pearce & Shane Black and is based on Marvel’s iconic Super Hero Iron Man, who first appeared on the pages of “Tales of Suspense” (#39) in 1963 and had his solo comic book debut with “The Invincible Iron Man” (#1) in May of 1968. “Iron Man 3” is presented by Marvel Studios in association with Paramount Pictures & DMG Entertainment. Marvel Studios’ President Kevin Feige is producing & Jon Favreau, Louis D’Esposito, Stephen Broussard, Victoria Alonso, Alan Fine, Charles Newirth, Stan Lee & Dan Mintz are executive producers. The film hits May 3, 2013, & is distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures.

Because that armor was experimental armor, this armor is far more likely to be the strongest at this point.

This will probably be the beginning of the film, whereTony is wearing the armor from Iron Man 2, and he's in China, doing something, and then the Mandarin gets pissed.

Something like that, it's not that complicated.

That's mark 6.

@ggoblin31. Its the Mark VI armour as previously stated. There was nothing for Whedon to clear up. The arc reactor will always be circular no matter what shape appears on his armour. There will be over 40 armours in the movie

Excellent first comment... I approve 100%

My guesses:

a) A flashback, less interesting.

b) Present time before the destruction of the amors... Maybe Stark doesn't like the Mark VII because it gives him bad memories of what happened in New York? More interesting if you ask me.

c) It's after the destruction of the Hall of Armors. The motion-capture dots are odd. Maybe he decided not to trust the Extremis version and after his house gets blown up get makes a new, more traditional armor out of spare parts, hence the parts with mo-cap dots which will add CGI añterations? That would explain why he was carrying things alone in the snow at the end of the trailer. It could be interesting.

The triangle piece is much better looking than the circle piece

I think after Iron Man 2 I think it's time to stop ignoring the obvious. Tony repairs or makes new versions of old models. So he can easily rebuild the suit from the battle in Avengers. Keep in mind the suit from Iron Man 2 was just as damaged

I think this takes place between Iron Man 2 and Avengers and explains why the character is in Iron Man 3.

I could also just be they never built a practical suit for the new version. If you look at the avengers b-roll, RDJ is wearing a Mark VI practical suit that they CG'd the Mark VII onto.

It's the suit from Avengers. It has the silver arm parts.

The back of it looks like the the Mark 7 and the front looks like the Mark 6. Could this be the Mark 8?

It could be Mark 8 or, as I said, a custom suit, it shows characteristics of different models.

i think even more that dr. Wu could become the second mandarin at the end of the movie...the rumours of him being a villain...and it seems to be some kind of "wise man" doctor\businessman\man-that-want-to-kick-ironman's-ass :)

Triangle chest piece is pure crap.

Stick with the original & best circle design & stop screwing with it.

This is ALL mark 6 fellas....I called it in the last IM article where we only saw the back with mo cap dots.

@@ Alex1397 and @@ didich - this is undoubtedly the mark 6, from the end of IM2 and most of the avengers. There is no part of it that we can see that is different. The helmet, back, chest, stomach, shoulders and arms are all the same. I'm not sure what you guy are looking at.

If this was to be an "assembled" armor from random other parts, I seriously doubt they would use half of one whole armor and only change the legs.

My guess.........flashback and/or dream (nightmare, as tony says in the trailer)

What would they think of Jon Favreau as director of Wonder Woman?. ...

in my opinion can be an excellent option after Iron Man 3 and if your character dies Happy Hogan in the movie

Ok, so that is the armor he wore in The Avengers. I really like the filming location.

IM3 will have a globe-trotting feel to it, which is great IMO.
