The first of five segments from Entertainment Weekly's exclusive in-depth chat with Iron Man 3 star, Robert Downey Jr, regards director Shane Black. In addition, the two-time Oscar-Nominated actor also speaks on a key scene in the Marvel threequel as well as Tony Stark's dynamic with (Don Cheadle) James 'Rhodey' Rhodes. Whether Black's direction has changed the film's approach to action scenes, Downey says, “We’ve just been talking about one sequence – the top-secret name is the Boot/Glove Sequence, I can tell you that, just between you and me – it’s where Tony only has one gauntlet and one boot and he has to escape multiple captors. It’s really fun, dude. We’re taking everything from his first gauntlet test in the first movie up through the most extreme stuff we thought up for Iron Man 2 and The Avengers and pulling on all of it and making this one big, extended challenge of physics.” As far as new and returning cast members, when asked to choose one and explain what they brought to the table, Robert asserts, “Since I was just talking about Flight and Don is on my mind, I’ll start with him. Rhodey is much more in the dead center of things. He’s much more dynamic. We’ve made this decision that while Tony is a technical guy, he’s not really a trained guy. There’s a lot of fun to be had with Don because he’s really good with hardware and he’s a martial artist, so it’s been really fun exploiting this possibility of Tony having moments like the one in Avengers, like the one with Cap where he decides, “Oh screw it, he probably knows what he’s doing.” So there’s a lot of that and a lot more fun and a lot more depth to Rhodey this time around.” For the full interview, or at least the first segment, head over to EW. Their second segment, tomorrow, will reveal a “cryptic clue” about an Avenger's Iron Man 3 cameo.

Marvel Studios’ “Iron Man 3” pits brash-but-brilliant industrialist Tony Stark/Iron Man against an enemy whose reach knows no bounds. When Stark finds his personal world destroyed at his enemy’s hands, he embarks on a harrowing quest to find those responsible. This journey, at every turn, will test his mettle. With his back against the wall, Stark is left to survive by his own devices, relying on his ingenuity and instincts to protect those closest to him. As he fights his way back, Stark discovers the answer to the question that has secretly haunted him: does the man make the suit or does the suit make the man? Starring Robert Downey Jr., Gwyneth Paltrow, Don Cheadle, Guy Pearce, Rebecca Hall, Stephanie Szostak, James Badge Dale with Jon Favreau and Ben Kingsley, “Iron Man 3” is directed by Shane Black from a screenplay by Drew Pearce & Shane Black and is based on Marvel’s iconic Super Hero Iron Man, who first appeared on the pages of “Tales of Suspense” (#39) in 1963 and had his solo comic book debut with “The Invincible Iron Man” (#1) in May of 1968. “Iron Man 3” is presented by Marvel Studios in association with Paramount Pictures & DMG Entertainment. Marvel Studios’ President Kevin Feige is producing & Jon Favreau, Louis D’Esposito, Stephen Broussard, Victoria Alonso, Alan Fine, Charles Newirth, Stan Lee & Dan Mintz are executive producers. The film hits May 3, 2013, & is distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures. Marvel Studios will also release “Thor: The Dark World ” on November 8, 2013; “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” on April 4, 2014; “Guardians of the Galaxy” on August 1, 2014; “Marvel's The Avengers” sequel (title TBA) on May 1, 2015; and “Ant-Man” on November 6, 2015!

Don cheadle sucks? Because Terrance Howard is so much better. Not saying TH can't act but he is just boring to watch, too one dimensional. With that said, go watch Crash, Hotel Rwanda, Traffic or anythink else Mr Cheadle has been in. Great actor!

Don Cheadle is a hell of an actor, just watch any of his movies and his show House of Lies. He even won a Golden Globe for it, so saying Don Cheadle is just non sense. And with that I do hope the dynamic between Tony and RHodes is better in this one than in two. In two it just felt like Rhodes really did not give two shits about Tony as he did in the first. I have faith in Shane Black and hopes he incoporates some of that buddy humor as he did with RDJ and Val Kilmer is Kiss Kiss Bang Bang.

That scene sounds fun. And I'm glad Rhodey is being developed more in IM3.

I like Don Cheadle much better in the role compared to Terrence Howard.

So are we getting wasp or just Janet. I would prefer just janet until the antman movie. just like i want carol in the cap movie. They can get their super personas in something more than a cameo.
