Following sightings of actor Robert Downey Jr. arriving to the Wilmington, NC set today, Comic Book, locals of the area, have scored minor details regarding the production of Iron Man 3. In addition to revealing that vehicles with "Miami Police Department" logos embellished on them were spotted being unloaded, CB adds:

"Those that did get a glimpse inside [the Cape Fear Club] reported seeing extras dressed in military uniforms and suits. The extras in suits were described as looking like Secret Service men." The site also claims that a source "involved with the production" reassured them that The Mandarin is "definitely" the villain. He said Mandarin had a set of twins that did most of his dirty work for him. Another source who had visited EUE/Screen Gems Studios told us that the sets they were building included Chinese storefronts."

Filming for Iron Man 3 will proceed for two months in different areas of Wilmington, North Carolina, before the production crew moves to China. One of those areas in NC is said to be the Wilmington International Airport.

UPDATE: The crew has been spotted filming at the Wilmington International Airport.

Described as a “technological crisis thriller,” set in the world of international war, arms & terror, Marvel Studios' “Iron Man 3” stars Robert Downey Jr., Gwyneth Paltrow, Don Cheadle, Guy Pearce, Rebecca Hall, Andy Lau, Ashley Hamilton, James Badge Dale, with Sir Ben Kingsley and Jon Favreau. Shane Black (“Kiss Kiss Bang Bang”) takes over directorial duties from Jon Favreau, who helmed the first two “Iron Man” films. Principal photography will occur primarily in North Carolina and China. And “Iron Man 3” is set for release in May 3, 2013.

this shows how fast Marvel is producing films based on their characters, I hope Warner who owns DC should follow Marvel's example. Can you believe a Steel movie starring Shaq O'Neil was produced even before a Flash movie can be made?

@SuperBat77 I expect him to say negative things about a villain, but It's possible that The Mandarin's characteristics will be altered for the movie; in fact the only thing the same may be the name. And maybe his in involvement with the The Ten Rings organization, which has already been established of course.

Blade and X-men set CBMs ablaze and WB gives us Catwoman. They are never going to learn. Whether it be movies or comics, DC has been behind the curve for decades and I see no reason to believe that will change. Honestly if I was WB/DC I would focus on Vertigo properties.

I would freak out if we were ever treated to an animated or live action Transmet for TV/Cable.

100 Bullets, Y-the Last Man, Preacher, etc... That is where WB/DC can make waves.

Its obviously going to be The Mandarin.

All the powers that be (Black, Feige, RDJ, etc) are sensitive to the racist Chinese origins of the character but will adapt him to be a threat to China as well as the USA (Mandarin's likely being of vague origins west of China but east of Iran) - thus bringing in box office in Asia and bringing even more notoriety internationally post Avengers...

Not sure what the legal rights are in regards, but I'd look to adapt some Wildstorm and ABC stuff also. I would flip my lid if they did Promethea.

I would've been so upset if Mandarin wasn't in line to be the villain. The other movies and references of the Ten Rings would've been for nothing. Hoping War Machine gets another appearance.

personally ... I think they should keep Mandarin's origin the same as it is in the comics.

Also they need to come up with a reason why he can stand up to a repulsor blast. Those rings may grant him amazing powers, but it's still just a man wearing them, who would be creamed by Iron Man's weapons like anyone else.

@Intruder I have a reliable source who says he knows a guy that kinda knows another guy who is sucking off his 2nd cousin about how The Flash is being close to production.

Hmm in their one-shot comic called "Point One" Marvel introduced a pair of super powered chinese twins. They were new characters and their introduction was considered kind of unusual, because unlike the rest of the stories in "Point One" they didn't have a tag line to inform us when we will be seeing them next.

Curious, I wonder if these are the same twins.

@Intruder Rainn Wilson is playing The Flash.

This movie is going to be my favorite Marvel outing. Maybe even my favorite CBM of all time. Even though I've criticized 'The Avengers' before, I've always been a supporter of this. Shane Black is a better writer (comedy and action-wise) than Joss Whedon, in my book. And, Miami is a sexy location for Tony Stark-- can't wait.

Here's a costume test. They changed it a little bit because they wanted it a little more realistic.
