Alternate Opening Scene For JOHN CARTER

Check out the alternate opening for Disney's John Carter. The film, which is as dull as watching repeats of Jake and The Fat Man, actually had a different opening. It was reshot after Pixar executives had voiced their displeasure.

Last year director Andrew Stanton presented a two-hour-and-fifty-minute cut of John Carter to Pixar executives. After the viewing the execs had issues with the opening scene.

The group liked Stanton’s major innovation: turning Carter from a reactive bruiser into a damaged misanthrope who’s haunted by flashbacks to an earlier marriage—a tragic hero who draws trouble down on everyone he meets. But they were confused by the film’s beginning, in which Princess Dejah delivered a lecture about the state of the Barsoomian wars, and they found her arch and stony. Worst of all, the film didn’t feel personal. - New Yorker

Starring Taylor Kitsch, Lynn Collins and Willem Dafoe, Mark Strong, Bryan Cranston, James Purefoy, Dominic West, Thomas Haden Church and Ciarán Hinds. John Carter will eventually replace Beastmaster on TBS!

Yeah, I'm glad they cut it. Although, this does make some motives a little more clear for me now.

Why did you write this? was this article a review? Does that line add to the story?

If you are going to give your opinion, so am I... John Carter was a very good movie. I loved it and can't wait to watch it on Blu Ray. I agree that it was marketed horribly... that person should be fired... but I loved the movie and am hoping against hope that it gets a sequel.

You can't blame the movie failing solely on the marketing. It's not like it got raving reviews. Haven't seen the movie but from the reviews I heard its boring.

Well I will be sure not to read or trust any review by nailbiter111 ever again. We should be able to report whole articles on this site. What a Douche Bag.

@BooYah John Carter has a 52% on rotten tomatoes which means over half the critics liked it. But who cares what they think you should watch it yourself. "Boondock Saints" the first one has a 17% on rotten tomatoes so what do they know.

Hello, guys.

I think that too much executives involved in the production made this movie fail. They wanted these five minutes out just to put another useless five minutes introduction narrated by willem Dafoe.

The movie force was the mistery around the main character, his origin, his drama, his pain and also the strange place/planet where he did go.

All the gratuitious explanations were useless to me.

Although all of it I think the movie was great and I still can't understand why it failed on USA.

And just for you to know, the day when a DVD rip copy of the movie appeared on [download content website] Demonoid, the site felt about almost 12 hours - everybody wanted it!!!

In addition to a "Like" button for articles, I recommend a "C*ckpunch Submitter" button. Seriously, do you know the difference between editorializing and reporting?

I didn't like this movie the first time when it was called prince of persia. So why'd they make a shitty follow up?

. i think of everyone as being mature enough to form their own opinion, and smart enough not to think mine is perfect. @nailbiter you give some people on here way too much credit! Keep up the good work bro!

Stating an opinion in a news story isn't a big deal, this is CBM, not CNN. I don't think nailbiter's going to be winning any pulitzers anytime soon, so relax.
