BOX OFFICE: Reviews Be Damned; JUSTICE LEAGUE Expected To Debut With $325+ Million Worldwide This Weekend

The reviews for Justice League may be more than a little mixed but it doesn't appear as if that will hurt its chances at the box office this weekend because early projections are pointing to a huge debut.

Justice League finally blasts into theaters this weekend and the signs are currently pointing to the movie having a huge debut at the worldwide box office. Deadline believes that the DC Comics adaptation will debut with $110 million - $120 million at the US box office and anywhere from $215 million - $235 million overseas. That means a worldwide debut of $325 million - $355 million.

This means it will debut well above the likes of Suicide Squad and Deadpool but it remains to be seen whether or not it will have a strong start akin to Batman v Superman and then plummet in week two.

The trade believes that Justice League could overperform thanks to the excitement surrounding Wonder Woman, particularly with female moviegoers who wouldn't necessarily flock to see a movie like this under other circumstances. China is obviously going to help in a big way too and the only real obstacle in Justice League's path is Thor: Ragnarok which is still performing strongly all over the world.

How much do you think Justice League will make this weekend? Share your thoughts in the usual place.

The movie is no cheat. It’s a tasty franchise delivery system that kicks a certain series back into gear. Read full review

BAD

It feels like a sheepish feature-length retraction of the franchise to date. It’s consistently embarrassing to watch, and features plot holes so yawningly vast they have a kind of Grand Canyon-like splendour: part of you wants to hang around to see what they look like at sunset.

@DoubleD - Wow somehow Collin’s words made me feel something for this movie, this guy has a real talent for words.

the biggest test will be the second week... Of course it'll do well this week, but what sort of drop off will it have?

@RasAlGhul - it’ll probably get in the range of that on RT, but we won’t know that for a few days because RT is wanting you to watch their new show to see the score.

If the budget is $300 million with reshoots. How much is needed to break even?
DoubleD
DoubleD - 11/15/2017, 2:46 AM
@Forthas - Ball Park Rule for movies is budget cost X 3 =

300 X 3 = 900 million to break even.

Feel free to google

@DoubleD - Oh...it will never make it. It is competing with Thor for the next few weeks, then Last Jedi will finish it off!
