George Miller's JUSTICE LEAGUE: MORTAL Script Has Leaked Online!
In 2007, George Miller ("Mad Max") was to direct Warner Bros. most ambitious comic book movie, Justice League: Mortal, but a writer's strike, a change in Australia's tax rebate incentive program, and fan uproar over casting put a halt to it. Now, come read the script!
Back in July, I posted an article that featured a possible breakdown of the Justice League: Mortal script, that an anonymous 4chan member claimed to have read. And now, superheromoviesnews.com has posted a link to the actual Justice League: Mortal script (click here). Knowing that some of you are too lazy to read a full script, you can head over to superheromoviesnews.com for their review (click here). A special thanks to Robert M. Laurence for spotting, and making me aware of this.
For those of you that aren't familiar, after WB released Superman Returns and Chris Nolan had started work on The Dark Knight, George Miller ("Happy Feet") was chosen to direct a Justice League film. Neither Christian Bale nor Brandon Routh would be apart of the cast, as this would be a separate universe and star Armie Hammer ("The Lone Ranger") as Batman, Adam Brody ("The O.C.") as The Flash, D.J. Cotrona ("G.I. Joe: Retaliation") as Superman and Megan Gale ("Project Runway Australia") as Wonder Woman. Sadly, it was never made with the main culprits being: the budget soared well over $200 million, Australia changed their tax rebate incentive program, a writer's strike eliminated any necessary script changes and fan interest was low based on a young group of unknown actors.
So, come enjoy some excerpts from the script, which I posted below. As I previously mentioned, the script is mostly based on three major comic book story arcs: JLA: Tower of Babel, Superman: Sacrifice, and an emotional ending that pays homage to Crisis on Infinite Earths #8.
D.J. Cotrona as Superman * Armie Hammer as Batman * Megan Gale as Wonder Woman
Santiago Cabrera as Aquaman * Hugh Keays-Byrne as Martian Manhunter * Jay Baruchel as Maxwell Lord
Teresa Palmer as Talia Al Ghul * Zoe Kazan as Iris West * Stephen Tobolowsky as Alfred Pennyworth
Common as John Stewart * Adam Brody as Barry Allen * Anton Yelchin as Wally West
